Re: Lincare - equipment choice vent
I asked her if they could special order it for me and she said no. ah well. On to the next DME. I'm going to have to pay for it anyway because my deductible is higher than the cost of the machine. The only reason I want to get it through an in network DME is so that it will reduce the outstanding de...

Lincare - equipment choice vent
My Lincare rep just told me I couldn't have the new CPAP machine that I want (PR System one) because, per corporate policy, they only provide RESMED equipment. She said RESMED gives them the best deal and that if Phillips Respironics gave them a better deal they would use them too. I have nothing ag...

Re: How many people have a back up unit?
I travel about every other week for work so I bought myself an identical second machine. It is my travel/back up machine. The primary machine stays connected at home. I also have a battery in case the power goes out.

Re: CPAP Travel on US Airways/American Airlines - Problem
I appreciate all of your suggestions, but they were not the case. It truly was that they believed the rule had been changed and CPAPs had specifically been removed from the list during the last week. 2 gate agents and the manager they called to the gate made this very clear. The good news is that to...

Re: CPAP Travel on US Airways/American Airlines - Problem
Yes. That has always been my understanding. I had my paperwork and even a prescription with me. They said that didn't matter.
I am trying to find out from US Airways if this is really a policy change or if it was a mistake.

CPAP Travel on US Airways/American Airlines - Problem
Yesterday when I was flying out of Philadelphia Int. the gate agent for US Airways didn't want to let me on the plane with my CPAP as my third bag. They said they had changed their policies in the last week. That since CPAPs weren't used on the plane they had removed them from the list of exceptions...

Re: Cruising and CPAP
Many (all?) cruise ships distill their water from sea water on an ongoing basis so the tap water is distilled water. In addition to a long extension cord, and removable hooks for hanging the hose, I always bring duct tape. Often the outlet is across the room from the bed and if there is a loose cord...

maybe the pillows are too small so the air is leaking around the edges? Have you tried S instead of XS?

Re: Using XPap at a hotel...
I haven't had any trouble with wall finishes but have occasionally run into a problem with fabric headboards that extend quite far around.
Have you found something else to use when the wall surface is not compatible?

Re: Using XPap at a hotel...
I travel extensively for work and stay in hotels. I leave my machine on the nightstand and cover it with a towel. I haven't had any problems yet. It is a very good idea to carry an extension cord and or power strip. I also carry some of those 3 M removable hooks so that I can hang my hose over my he...

Re: Insurance coverage after I move may be a problem - update
Well, I extended my Maryland coverage through the end of the period for which I was paying rent there, even though I had physically moved. That gave me a little more time to find a new plan. I was finally able to get coverage without having a gap in insurance but.... it is costing me $1030 / month!!...
