Nissen Fundiplication 12 years ago for GERD

I had a Nissen fundiplication done in conjunction with a cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) done laparascopically. It was done about 12 years ago. At the time, I was very thin. I had done some major lifestyle revisions with the help of a good medical program. I had also had a complication during...

Lips Soft; Vomit and DIE!; Micropore Tape Cheaper

Rooster, I had to add my thanks. This works like a charm, and although I had to tape the whole mouth, I have graduated to the center only, using about 2 inches of the one-inch wide Micropore/Nexcare paper tape. The chap stick helps keep the lips in good condition. (I never applied it so regularly be...

Re: Overhead hose.

Boy I envy you "active" sleepers that can sleep with the hose both on and under the blankets. I start on my stomache, then I am on one side then the other, on my back, under the covers, over the covers, adding covers, throwing them off. I just cannot imagine not having my hose go overhead. I am ama...

Interrresting!

Bonnie, do you think that the hybrid is SO new that the DME company did not know they carry it? With the way some folks have spoken of their DME providers, it could take 6 months to a year before they realize what that weird looking thing might be.... I visit my DME provider Wednesday. I will ask th...

Exhaust(ed)

Is there a reason that the exhaust vents have to be close to the nose? The other air is coming QUITE a distance through the hose--could it not be directed through a vent in the hose and re-directed by the sleeper (or co-sleeper)? Keep the information coming! This hybrid seems to have much to recomme...

The New Mask

Thank you for your comprehensive review. I, for one, appreciate it. Now I'm wishing that I would be picking up the hybrid on Wednesday instead of my much-awaited ComfortLite 2. I am reassured by the reports on the hybrid. As a new CPAP user, the design issues are troubling. It seems to me that there...

ComfortLite 2--Which Interface?

Having borrowed the ComfortLite, I have had a somewhat similar experience to the ComfortLite 2 with all of the basic connections and their workings. One way, I will be lucky because I have the size 4 direct seal for the CL 1. This is a bit big, but I have had to learn the basics of swing into the no...

OK, OK, I'm Picking Mine Up...

All right, you folk. Just when I am a few days away from FINALLY picking up my ComfortLite 2 mask, NOW you all start this thread. I was SO looking forward to getting my hair cut once I no longer needed the ponytail to hold the ComfortLite (older one, borrowed from DME provider). Now, when I pick up ...

Cockroaches can be BEAUTIFUL!!

While I was a bit put off by the cockroaches in the CPAP machine, I did take a few biology/botany/zoology classes in college. I hate to have to say this, but--we had a GORGEOUS 3-4 inch long South American variety of cockroach in the Zoo lab once. There are many varieties of cockroaches. It was alwa...

Online Video Demonstration of Apnea

This is a good explanation (with animation and sound) of the effects of sleep apnea:

One could see if the symptoms seem to match.

Which Begs the Question--

Do animals ever have apnea? We surely have had a few champion snorers of the canine variety in our house. The competition is to see which snorer can get to sleep first so that the rest of us take longer to fall asleep due to the noise--and usually the dog wins. In fact, the D-O-G had to go stay over...

Bless His Heart!

Isn't that just the sweetest story about a supportive spouse? What a guy. And, isn't that just typical that he would try so hard to do it correctly? Definitely a keeper!

Now, do you call that motivation from a co-sleeper who hates the "snoring, stop breathing, gasping: repeat" cycle?

Mileage

I really hope that this will be an answer for you.

And it should last longer than a lot of the expensive CPAP equipment, too, should it not?

Re: Not recovering? Specific Records!

At some point, you have to consider the possibility of going back to the sleep doctor and saying, "When I got this, I felt like this and that and the other thing." "Now I feel almost the same way, except for A and B." I have been x% compliant. My compliance has taken this pattern. "It has been 1- 2...

Never give up!

OK, OK, I am a relative newbie--so I have only used the CPAP for about 2 months now. I have used 3 different mask/interface systems, and am waiting for the 4th (which supposedly will be here Wednesday....) I started with the Mirage Swift nasal pillows size Medium and the Adam style chin strap that ...
