I actually didn't have any leak problems with the fitlife. Even if I rolled onto my side. It was pretty comfortable. I have a large. I don't think a small would help at all.

Yes it's normal, it's a good indicator that you have the mask adjusted correctly especially if you don't have any leaks. If you don't feel it, then you've got the mask too tight.
