Maybe I missed it being mentioned but have you considered just using a battery backup/UPS (something by APC perhaps)? It might give you an hour or so and the alarm would wake you up to let you know the power was out.

My company chose explicitly *not* to cover anything related to sleep apnea on our insurance plan (that I pay $500 a month for). No sleep studies, no equipment, nothing.

Fortunately, my neurologist knows a sleep clinic and they did my split study for $800 cash. They typically bill insurance $2495.
