Re: Confused by sleep doc's attitude towards AHI
Another strategy I can recommend to the OP is to try to use a mouthpiece in addition to your APAP. This should allow effective therapy at pressures lower than would be required without the mouthpiece. Personally, I've found I get about the same results when using APAP + mouthpiece with pressure set ...

Re: OT - Thanks to Janknitz and DreamStalker (diabetes/diet)
Thanks to messrs. jnk, Janknitz, and Dreamstalker--people like these are why I stop by here from time to time. In fact, let's bring it in for a group hug, awesome. Yes, I had left out of account the >0.5 mmol/L constraint, the keto "adapted" issue, and the stored vs dietary fat issue, and other fact...

Re: OT - Thanks to Janknitz and DreamStalker (diabetes/diet)
Something about being in ketosis is confusing the hell out of me. All the accounts I've read make it sound like the production of ketones is something that occurs after the available glucose, and then the glycogen in the liver, are depleted. At that point, the body switches over to burning fat. Fatt...

Wasn't that for a study? I think you are right CF. Also, according to this part of the Inspire Therapy Site, https://www.inspiresleep.com/what-is-inspire-therapy/is-inspire-therapy-right-for-you/, there doesn't seem to be a specific requirement that cpap be used for a certain amount of time: ""Is I...

Software for Contec CMS-50F Oximeter
I got a Contec CMS-50F oximeter back in 2009 and had the software for it on my desktop system. Stupidly, I never transferred the software to my laptop or any other system. Well, the desktop system died peacefully in its sleep a couple nights ago, and it is unlikely that the hard drive is recoverable...

Re: Opinions please on my oximeter readings good, bad, ok ?
There is a relationship between AHI and ODI. Oxygen Desaturation Index is the number of times per hour of sleep that the blood's oxygen level drops by 3 percent or more from baseline. Your link is busted so I don't know if you posted the ODI or the number of Desats during the sleep period, but that...

Re: Opinions please on my oximeter readings good, bad, ok ?
Hi Mike, These look pretty bad. I've collected data like this on 4 people who have OSA, and 7 people who do not. And the oximetry charts coming from the people who do not have OSA all look the same, and look nothing like yours. People are getting hung up on the issue of how low do your O2 levels go...

Simple, Overlooked Tool For "Pre-Diagnosis" of OSA
If you don't have a sleeping partner, and you suspect you have OSA but would like to be fairly confident before pushing for a sleep study, an inexpensive resource that I recommend is the straightforward expedient of recording yourself sleeping. Many free programs are available that allow you to reco...

Re: Latest & Greatest Oral Appliances
OK, saw a dentist who does a lot of this. Put me into one of these: http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab205/cloudypj/appareil-SUAD-b_zpscofweqdm.jpg It's not quite as uncomfortable as it looks. First night I fired up the recording oximeter and used just the mouthpiece. First night in five years wit...

Re: Latest & Greatest Oral Appliances
I have seen people post on here about using a dental device with their CPAP. Guessing that those who have successfully transitioned to using only the oral device aren't hanging out here. Good luck finding someone with knowledgeable input. I did a focus group last year on some new devices coming out...

If you really have used XPAP for a long time, and have done your research, you should know be now XPAP treatment is the Gold Standard Treatment. Your present quest, is only a devirgment from your treatment, one would think you would be past that. Jim If I'm reading the chart below correctly, it see...
