Re: Septoplasty/Turbine surgery and CPAP

Just went for my first and final follow-up with the ENT. She had scheduled it 2 weeks after my surgery on Dec 3rd. She looked up my nose and said that it is healing very well and that you could drive a truck through it. I did ask her if it would be okay for me to start using the CPAP again. she said...

Re: May need septoplasty but worried about xPAP

Had a combined Septoplasty/Turbine Reduction last Thursday. Had no major issues with pain, in fact I was surprised at the lack of it. The only issues that I got was with my upper teeth aching for two days. The lortab that they gave help calm those minor aches down. The hospital did ask me to bring m...

Re: Septoplasty/Turbine surgery and CPAP

fsmitty- Congrats. you made it over the hump. The packing is there to stop the bleeding. I has splints to help the septum heal in place. You can feel them but, it's unlikely you can see them unless you had a special tool. The clips are put on both sides of septum & are connected with a fish wire. A...

Re: septoplasty and turbinate surgery

Your report is puzzling. Exactly what was the surgery for? The surgery was to correct my severe nasal congestion. The sleep doctor, who put on CPAP, referred me to the ENT to get checked out. The ENT found that my nasal congestion is caused by enlarged turbines and that I also had a deviated septum...

Re: Septoplasty/Turbine surgery and CPAP

Welcome back, sounds like everything went well. I wonder how long that congestion lasts? Keep us updated. I am supposed to have this surgery in the spring. My doc prefers to do these in the spring, saying the recovery is easier with the air having more moisture in it. Gerry Thanks for all your enco...

Re: septoplasty and turbinate surgery

Finally had my surgery last Thursday. Went in to the hospital at 6am and into surgery at 8am. They completely knocked me out which was good. The surgery lasted about 45 minutes after which I was taken to my 23 hour stay room. Decided to stay in overnight due to me living alone and the chance of blee...

Re: Septoplasty/Turbine surgery and CPAP

Had my septoplasty/turbine reduction surgery last Thursday. I am now on 3 days post op and am feeling very tired and congested. My surgery went without any hitches, in fact the doctor told my friend that there was minimal bleeding. Spent the first night in the 23 hour stay unit of the hospital due t...

Re: Septoplasty/Turbine surgery and CPAP

Hi- I had my surgery in July. I was, also, told to bring my cpap machine with me. For insurance purposes, my understanding is that it's required to stay overnight in hospital because of the sleep apnea. After the procedure(turbinate reduction and deviated septum), I was hooked up with an oxygen mas...

Septoplasty/Turbine surgery and CPAP

On Dec 3rd, I am going into hospital to have Septoplasty/Turbine reduction surgery. When other people had this surgery, did they have to take their CPAP machine to the hospital? My ENT nurse's have told me to bring the machine even though I won't be able to use it due to it having nasal pillows. I a...

Mirage Liberty - Leaks & ladies tights

A few weeks back, some of you suggested that I try either shoe laces or ladies tights to help stop the leaks from the nasal plugs on the Mirage Liberty. Well, I couldn't get up the nerve to wander into the tights section of the store. However, I did remember that when I had hernia surgery that I had...

Re: Seeking insight from mild and/or younger apnea sufferers

I am also wondering if CPAP is really worth it also. Like you, I workout and am in good shape. The sleep study found my AHI is 5.85. The borderline for apnea/cpap treatment if anything above 5. I question the sleep study since they do this while sleeping on your back. This is a position that I never...

Re: Will You Get the Swine Flu Vaccine?

Still waiting for the swine flu shot. Had the regualr flu shot about two weeks ago. At work, a university, we have a staff clinic that said that they should get the swine flu shot by the end of Oct. I told them that I need it before Nov 15th as I am going on a cruise to Mexico. The nurse said that t...

Re: septoplasty and turbinate surgery

Well, I have my septoplasty/turbine reduction scheduled for Dec 3rd. Since I am single and live alone, I managed to persuade the doctor's office to do a 23 hour stay in the hospital. Yesterday, someone at work said her husband had it done and to expect to be off work at least one week. Well, I am ha...

Septoplasty/Turbine Reduction & CPAP Mask

Well, I have a Septoplasty/Turbine Reduction scheduled for Dec 3rd. The problem that I am currently having is with nasal congestion that is making it very difficult to use the Mirage Liberty. Last night, it felt like I could not breath which caused me to remove the mask after 30 minutes. The ENT has...

Re: I can't remember when I've slept this much!

I envy you getting 7-8 hours of sleep. Have been on CPAP just over a month and am still struggling. Even with CPAP, I am still waking up so early and not being able to get back to sleep. I am like you used to be having only 4 hours per night. Currently, I keep getting severe nasal congestion which i...
