Re: Whats the best sleep meds?
Are you a teacher?? If so, I can see why you can't get to bed before 10:30 every night. It is unreal how much work there is left to do after the school day ends. I teach math in a middle school. You couldn't be more correct about the hours of work after I get home. I spend any where from one to thr...

Re: Whats the best sleep meds?
Thanks for all the advice. I've just returned from my arthritis/fybromyalgia doctor and she has prescribed a couple of medicines for me. One is for my joint pain, I can't remember the name, but won't effect my sleep. The other is call Savella which is a new medicine for my fybromyalgia. She didn't w...

Re: Whats the best sleep meds?
I know my sleep dr. reccommened melatonin --you can buy it over the counter in the vitamin section. seems to help me. I just take 1 3 mg. tablet. I'm also finding that I don't have to take it every night which is good.I know my sleep dr. reccommened melatonin --you can buy it over the counter in th...

Re: Whats the best sleep meds?
Have you tried a small dose of OTC melatonin? No I haven't. Was there any mention in your sleep study report of limb movements? My sleep study showed no leg movement. Are there any clues in your data as to what might be going on? I have mild apnea. My study showed that it took me a long time to rea...

Whats the best sleep meds?
I have been using the cpap machine for 2 months and still having trouble sleeping. Before cpap I was taking a muscle relaxer tizanidine (zanaflex) to help me sleep. I am currently still taking it, but it no longer is helping me sleep. It was prescribed by my arthritis/fibromyalgia doctor. I was wond...

Re: Help with data from 1st sleep study
You're right that there may be alternatives for you, and perhaps ask your doctor to refer you to a Ear Nose Throat specialist to investigate if there are any physiological anomalies that are correctable, or if an appliance could maintain your airway rather than the CPAP. My doctor is going to leave...

Re: Help with data from 1st sleep study
Can you relay what your doctor told you about this all? Are they continuing you on the same machine? Did they change the range? My doctor didn't say anything about the reading off of my card, nor did she change any settings on my machine. The sleep study report listed three recommendations. One, st...

Help with data from 1st sleep study
I just had my first visit with my sleep doctor since having a sleep study 5 weeks ago. A DME contacted me a few days later and said my dr. order a CPAP machine for me and she set me up. I am going on my 4th week of using the APAP and I am totally exhausted. I am able to sleep with the mask almost th...

Re: What is the difference be/ cpap and apap?
Thanks for answering my questions. I don't know if my machine is set for cpap or apap. I go Monday, to the sleep lab (for the first visit since my sleep study) for my follow-up. I've never been told anything except that my sleep study showed a 17, (I'm assuming they're talking about the AHI score) a...

Re: What is the difference be/ cpap and apap?
That's kind of what I thought. I'm just curious as to why wouldn't everyone have the apap instead of the cpap if the apap can tell exactly what pressure a person needs? It just seems to me that the apap should replace the cpap. How can I tell what my Resmed Auto Set II is set on? Also, can I set my ...

Re: suffocating
This my third week and I too felt like you do. At first I could only sleep with it for a couple of hours. I started out with a mask with nasal pillows and nothing over my mouth. I couldn't get use to not letting my mouth open, and when I did, all the air would leave my lungs and I felt like I would ...

Re: Keep waking up in middle of night (3-5AM)
I am also a newbie and would wake up in the middle of the night and "consciously" remove my mask (with nasal pillows). The reason I would wake up is because my pressure would be high, and I couldn't handle it. So I removed my mask and turned off my apap machine. Another reason I would wake up is tha...

Maybe I don't have Arthritis, Fibromyalgia... just Sleep Ape
I'm have recently been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, and was just wondering if maybe that is the underlying reason I feel so bad. Since I was in my early twenties I was always so tired and couldn't keep up with my social friends. I thought maybe it was the stress of college life and as soon as I gradu...

Re: Clinical setting on Resmed S8 AutoSet II
I am to thankful for this site and the wealth of knowledge I have gain from it. I appreciate the post, and believe me, I was about to panic that I had really screwed up my machine. Thanks to you all, I actually was able to calm down, and only stress out about trying a new mask for the second night i...
