Encore Pro 2 - software issue / conflict

My installation of Encore Pro 2 started hanging / freezing my laptop soon after logging on. Unable to find the cause I reformatted and reinstalled all programs on my machine, Encore Pro 2 was installed and it worked on exactly 2 occasions. I finally installed Microsoft Virtual Machine and installed ...

Sleep Apnea and Cardiac Arrest

I am looking for information about the possibility of a person who has undiagnosed Sleep Apnea suffering a cardiac arrest. A relative of mine - 75 year old - (btw also a retired cardiologist) had a cardiac arrest recently. He was lucky, being a cardiologist himself realised something was wrong and r...

Re: clogged nasal passages and claustraphobia. Which mask helps?

I used to have the same problem but this changed when I switched over to the Resmed Nasal Pillow FX. I feel the contant pressure won't let my passages clog (and helps in declogging a blocked passage). I love this mask - the leaks are minimum and mouth breathing is uncomfortable (so you won't do it).

Re: System One Resistance Control?

From a past correspondence with Respironics, I had received the settings for Resistance Control (attached below). I had understood it to be leak compensation which the machine uses for leakage reporting - therefore should not affect quality of sleep at any setting. Respironis were neither able to pr...

Re: Which law says we can't change our own pressure flow?

My doctor doesn't believe my OSA has affected my mental abilities to take a decision on what pressures suit me better. In fact she encourages me saying "you are at the receiving end (of the hose) you would know better", thanks to her attitude I sleep well and my AHIs are low (<3-4)

Re: Sleep test costs

I live in India, Insurance cover is not available for sleep disorders and almost all out-patient procedures are not covered. I recently had a sleep study done and a titration the following night. The total it cost me was Rs.9,000 (slightly less than US$ 200). Its a surprise how different the same pr...

Re: CPAP and Travel

You are allowed one handbag in addition to the CPAP equipment. I've not been stopped by any airline however you may want to reconfirm it with your airline. I believe there is some FAA rule which exempts CPAP (and cerain medical) equipement from being considered as hand baggage.

Re: pillows vs ff vs pressure

Spirit, In a FF mask the pressure is the same on the mouth and the nose (including the lungs) so if the mouth is open if won't make a difference but in a nasal mask/cushion the pressure is on the nose and lungs only and if you open the month air is like to leak (like through the point of least resis...
