Re: Insurance / DME

4. I guess I will need to speak with the Maryland sleep commission. I'll update this thread later next week once I know more about what happened. Be careful out there, CW You need to file a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner. Haha yes, you are totally right. I was thinking insurance and I ty...

Re: Insurance / DME

Just a heads up for everyone that is dealing with a DME company they are unhappy with: 3. Be very leary of anyone that tells you they are going to even swap your WORKING cpap machine for a much more expensive model 5 (or 15??? not sure) months after you rec'd the original. The only time we do an ev...

Re: Insurance / DME

I have BCBS and they have an excellent online presence. You can access your account and see all claims, payments, etc. right there.... I'd do that first before talking to anyone! Emilia, Yes, actually I have not had any real trouble with BCBS NM other than this. You are right their online presence ...

Re: Insurance / DME

Are you saying you got the machine 15 months ago (5 months you used it, then you got the PR 10 months ago, that's 15 months), and NOW the DME is saying you weren't approved to have it? What took them so long to say so? (Was there a 13 month rental period?) Yes, I got it from the DME 15 months ago b...

Re: Insurance / DME

$400 is probably the amount the insurance company allows for that machine. They would never pay $2200. Call the DME and tell them the insurance company has already paid for the machine. Demand that they cancel the invoice and send you a copy of the credit or cancellation notice. This billing could ...

Insurance / DME

So this weekend I received a letter from my DME which provided my original CPAP machine requesting that I pay them $2,200 for my CPAP machine. Apparently, they received notification from my Insurance company that pre-approval was not required. So they gave me the machine and I used it religiously fo...

Re: Anyone with Improvement in Arrhythmia?

Hi Bonnie, I've been dealing with AFIB and sleep apnea now for about 9 months. The very first AFIB episode I had sent me to the hospital for a couple of days to be cardioverted. It was a wake up call for me and forced me to realize that I need to make some changes. So I finally went back to the slee...

Re: Transition M Series Pro to PR System One - Insight?

I used the M Series Pro CPAP and I moved to the PR System One APAP. I quite like the new machine and something about it has improved my therapy slightly. I did have the encore viewer software for the M Series but it did not work very well for me because I use a Mac so I had to use VMWare to run the ...

Re: Healthcare Reform What Would You Do

I have an idea regarding health care that we should consider. I believe institute something like Health Scholarships -- I call them Vitalships. The idea is if someone is sick through no fault of their own -- i.e. they do not smoke and are not overweight and are not otherwise harming themselves (drug...

Re: What's in the Healthcare Bill for You?

Eventually we as a society will need to ask ourselves. Are we comfortable with health insurance being managed in a market oriented environment. Is there innovation being derived from this? Is the innovation at the expense and harm of the populace. Especially those weakened by sickness. When there ca...

Re: Do you ever go a night without CPAP?

I think this concern is fairly common. When I was at my DME to get my machine a guy in the lobby was returning his machine and he implied it was because he had a new girlfriend. I think he said something like, "I'll be back once I am single again."

Variable Breathing == REM Sleep?

Hello, I am new this forum and new to CPAP; 5-6 weeks. I've been diagnosed with Central Sleep apnea and for me it responds to CPAP (AHI Averages around 3 with CPAP and 43 on my PSG report). I have been reviewing my data from EncoreViewer... the XML file data and I noticed a number of patches of what...
