Re: Will You Get the Swine Flue Vaccine?
1) Absolutely. I have other "chronic medical conditions" that make a flu shot every year an absolute must, and if they want to give me protection against one more strain/type, so much the better. 2) I suppose it is, since once you are diagnosed, you most likely need to use a CPAP machine for life. B...

CPAP Adding to my Sore Throat?
I have had a nasty sore throat and post-nasal drip for the last 2 days or so. I usually have problems with seasonal allergies, so that could be all it is. However, this year, I found myself wondering--could my CPAP machine be making things worse? If so, what can I do to prevent it? Thanks for listen...

Re: Good follow up visit with my doctor
Rested Gal- What you say about watching for leaks makes a lot of sense. That's something I can do, and adjust the way I wear my mask accordingly, if need be. I just called the sleep doc's nurse and asked for the Pro, explaining the time constraints (giving her the exact date I got my current machine...

Re: Good follow up visit with my doctor
I'm pnly prescribed 5cm, and I often use my ramp button when I first go to sleep to get used to even that much pressure. (4 cm is the lowest my machine can deliver.) I also take 2 different sleep medications, so that may account for how much longer I am able to sleep. Honestly, my problem was never ...

Good follow up visit with my doctor
I got a lot of questions answered today! My doctor is board certified in Sleep Medicine and a diplomat of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The group I go to has a websiter where I can find out all about his qualifications. I now have an offical diagnosis: UARS.(Even pre-CPAP treatment, my AHI...

Re: Newand confused, even though I've read the newbie info
I have discovered from talking to you in chat that what I have is apparently a REMStar basic. Even though you said this means there is no smart card in the thing, my DME (Duramed) said that there was one. It's got two buttons on the front and nothing else. My sleep doc (whom I believe is cerified in...

Re: Newand confused, even though I've read the newbie info
The top of the machine says "REMStar M Series" and the closest thing I can find to a model number is something on the bottom, right under the Respironics addresses--IPX1? It also says 4.16 A. (?) (I apologize for my incredible ineptitude here. I've already tried to ask the DME, but of course it isn'...

Re: Newand confused, even though I've read the newbie info
I use a Respironics REMStar M Series machine and heated humidifier, and a FlexiFit431 mask (full face) from Fisher and Paykel. My DME brought these to my doorstep on August 18. This was in spite of the fact that my doctor has a selection of masks and machines in his office. My insurance company dict...

Newand confused, even though I've read the newbie info
I have been using my CPAP machine for about 2 weeks now. I think my sleep is getting better, and this is invaluable to me, especially since I have lupus causing severe fatigue on top of everything else. I'm still a little confused about the diagnosis in my case, though. My AHI is way under 5. The pr...

Re: How do YOU dry the hose?
I have been taught by my DME to wash my hose every other day--yup, that often. I usually put a little Dawn down the hose, rinse it out with water from my bathtub faucet until the water runs clear, then hang it either over the shower rod or on a hook on my bathroom door to dry. By bedtime, my hose is...
