Re: Advice on Auto Bi-pap

Thanks, I will check them out. I think the VPAP was the one my DME was going to sell for $4400.

Advice on Auto Bi-pap

After reviewing my Cpap data, my Dr decided to switch me to an Auto Bi-pap. I would be interested in advice anyone might have on which units to consider. Cost is a factor of course. My insurance pays 80% and I pay 20%. I will also be shopping for a new DME. My current DME qouted a price of $4400 for...

Re: Stop panic attacks without meds

Some panic attacks can be cured without meds. I used to have panic attacks often. Twice, I wound up in the ER because family and coworkers thought I was having a heart attack. Anyway, several years ago, I was seeing an employee counselor at work over a problem I was having with my supervisor. The co...

Bpap vs Apap

I have been on a Cpap for 2 months now and my Dr. reviewed the data. He says I am not responding well to Cpap, AHI too high, so he wants to switch me to an Apap/Bpap. Do these machines work similarly? I checked Cpap.com and noticed that the Resmed Bpap is far more expensive than the Apaps. Also, sho...

Re: Nasal Pillow causing windburn in nostrils and on face

I wish I had a DME that had OSA so that they would know more about it. We all do. rosie The RT at the DME I am using does have OSA, but he is either one of those who thinks the script is a decree from God and not to be questioned, or he just keeps any knowledge to himself. Whichever, he has not bee...

Re: Giving the Fit Life a Try

Have had the FitLife for about a week. I just can't seem to get a good seal. I watched the videos on the website and spent about an hour trying to adjust. It works fine at pressures below 12, but I am supposed to be at 14. I get leaks at forehead and both cheeks. Only way to get a decent seal is to ...

Re: Whoo Hoo I got approved

Just curious. I don't know what the amp/hour rating is for the average Cpap machine, but I wonder if you could use a UPS(uniterruptable power supply) like those used for computers. A UPS would be much cheaper than the ones on the website listed. Anytime you slap "medical" on anything, the price usua...

Re: Cpap and swollen uvula

Found something that helps on another forum I found by Googling uvulitis. Tumeric with honey. Tried it last night and it really seemed to help!

Re: Cpap and swollen uvula

My Dr suggested trying a nasal mask since I was having so many leaks with the Quattro. My DME wants me to try that new full face mask that just came out, but he had to order one. I am also waiting on a new S8 Elite II so I will have data capability. My DME said Resmed was phasing out the S8 series f...

Cpap and swollen uvula

Anyone ever have this problem? The past couple of mornings I have been awakened by a choking feeling. I felt like I had a big lump in my throat. When I looked in the mirror, I noticed my uvula was much longer and touched my tongue when standing or the back of my throat when lying down. No pain, so I...

Re: Designing a new mask - could use some input from users

1) 4-3/16th inches
2) 2-1/2 inches

I hope you can find a cushion that will work at low and high pressures. I have a problem with leaks when cpap reaches full pressure (16cm).

Good luck!

Re: Frustrated newbie.

Update Finally got ahold of someone in the sleeplab who cared She called the DME and lit a fire under them and hand delivered a copy of my sleep study to my Dr and told him he needed to call as I had some problems and questions. The result, the Dr called and said I have severe obstuctive SA with 47 ...
