Re: Need to purchase Resmed H5i in Tokyo

Thank you everyone for your advice. Fortunately, it does seem the humidifier has "recovered" after I discovered the gasket or seal had fallen off the top (and fell just under the hotel bed) and I then put it back on . I say "fortunately" because although having one's CPAP in working order is a real ...

Re: Need to purchase Resmed H5i in Tokyo

Thanks Chunkyfrog for the suggestion, which I may have to resort to. Thankfully though I just noticed the gasket on the humidifier door fell off (and was on my hotel room floor), apparently from the earlier impact. I put it back on and this may solve the problem (although the humidifier made a few s...

Need to purchase Resmed H5i in Tokyo

Well, coming out of customs today at Narita, my CPAP dropped, and I just discovered the humidifier (Resmed H5i that goes with the S9) seems to be broken. So, I have two questions. First, can anyone recommend a place in Tokyo where I would be able to buy a replacement (renting is not an option becaus...

CPAP and Foam Earplugs: Any problem?

I often find myself in hotels, usually quiet ones but sometimes noisy ones. So I'm wondering whether there is any adverse consequence from using foam earplugs (such as those manufactured by EAR) while using a CPAP or APAP. I've already done so a few times, but it feels a bit weird (in contrast to wh...

Re: Provent for sleep apnea

Given one of the potential uses for Provent is on airplanes or camping trips (where it might be difficult to bring or use a CPAP), it makes perfect sense that someone might want to "refer" to a study of Provent at higher altitudes. Even if it is not as effective as a CPAP, in those situations where ...

Re: Climateline hose lasted 1 year 8 months!

It's funny that recently I have been hearing loud hissing sounds that I thought was from leakage from a new mask. It turns out it was from a rather blatant hole in my climateline hose. Given that I see here some have been recalled, does this mean if I buy another it is likely to be an updated versio...

Re: Provent for sleep apnea

Because I travel a lot on overnight flights I am thinking I may use Provent while sleeping on the flights. Given that airplanes tend to be pressurized at the equivalent of about 8,000 feet altitude, any ideas about how the cabin pressure would affect the effectiveness of Provent?

Re: Taking CPAP through carry-on luggage

TSA personnel are very knowledgeable about CPAP machines given that quite a few people who go through security have them. Typically, I would say four times out of five, when they see one they will alert one of the agents there is a CPAP, and the second agent will swab the machine for explosives. Onc...

Re: Is there another brand machine close to equal to ResMed?

Given the amount of time you will spend with your machine, I would suggest getting one of the machines with newer technology, as I have found the newer technology yields better therapy (for me, at least, and I'm basing this on having recently used both the Resmed S9 Auto, and the Respironics System ...

Re: I'm Out

My first reaction also is to try a cpap pillow, either from cpap.com, overstock.com, or wherever. For me it makes all the difference in the world (in terms of limiting leaks) when I use either the Quatro, or the Fitlife masks and sleep on my side or stomach.

Re: ResMed and FAA approval on CPAPs

JayC, Thanks for the link to the Resmed letter. I won't be using my Resmed S9 on a flight though until there is an appropriate battery adapter (in the meantime, I use a System One with a battery when travelling). Does anyone have updated information on whether there is now (or will be shortly) an ad...

Re: Question re Selling on CPAP Auction

Yes I did give that seller a negative review and said what happened. However, I noticed she may have stopped selling things under that name, although I also noticed "someone else" from the same general area of the country just started, so there is a chance she is playing musical handles. I should no...

Re: CPAP Auction

The real problem is getting stuck with a deadbeat seller. I recently purchased an S9 that was listed as including the climateline hose. When I received the package it did not include the hose. I wrote to the seller who said that has happened on a few of her sales (the package did not include the upg...

Re: Is total face as effective as full face?

I didn't have any trouble getting the Fitlife to seal. I did have trouble getting a number of full face masks to seal properly, although the Quatro seems to be okay. My only problem with the total face Fitlife was (as above) my sense that at low pressures the carbon dioxide did not fully evacuate th...

Re: What masks work well for serious side-sleepers?

I agree with those who have focused on the pillow rather than the mask. I have used both the Regenesis and a standard CPAP pillow, such as those available from cpap.com, or even overstock.com (at times). And I have used both a total face (Fittlife) and full face (Mirage Quatro) mask without problems...
