Re: Totally Overwhelmed
i felt the same way. i resisted getting the sleep study because i was pretty sure about having OSA and was not looking forward to being hooked up to a machine every night for the rest of my life. i worried what my wife would think. but, hey, let's face it... nobody likes to admit it, as we age we ne...

Re: Tonight's the night!
good for you! glad you had a good first night. it only gets better.
the numbers will make more sense as time goes on, but for now you should concentrate on the leaks. what you posted is not bad, but the lower you can get it the leak rate the more accurate the rest will be.

Re: Questions after 1 1/2 months on CPAP
I think you were comparing your numbers to numbers other people have posted on here. You can't do that, you need to compare your numbers from your original sleep study to your numbers now. You also need to remember that a machine isn't going to record things exactly the way they are recorded in a t...

Re: How often do you check your sleep data
I may look at the machine on my screen every day but I don't dig into the data. If I see somethign on the screen change then I dig in. Gerry me too. at first i would check it everyday - i found it fascinating and very educational. but for sevceral weeks now, the numbers have been very stable, so mu...

Re: Poll: Remembering Dreams
for most of my life, i rarely dreamed. when i started treatment (tx) suddenly i started dreaming! not weird, disjointed, random, but very current and vivid. to the point where i was beginning to have trouble distinguishing whether or not it was in fact a dream. but, now 5 months in, most nights i dr...

Re: Poll: Remembering Dreams
Funny, but last night I had one of my most vivid dreams of all time. It was one of those where I was watching myself from a distance in most of it. I was giving a lecture (something I occasionally do in real life) to a large outdoor audience when suddenly everything went wrong--sound system, multim...

Re: travelling with CPAP machine
i just returned from a 3 week trip, including stops in 5 countries, across 3 continents, ending in a carribean cruise, which meant a total of 7 trips through the security lines. i have to agree with the others that say DO NOT CHECK your machine. it is easy enough to get it through security - the onl...

Re: ever use machine DURING flight?
yes, thanks, jeff! i couldn't have said it better myself! and the extra sleep last night really helped. definitely worth the $. in fact, it comes with a very nice camera case, but i find it all fits perfectly in the original carry case that my machine came in. so not only do i have all the accessori...

Re: ever use machine DURING flight?
we finally made it back from our trip around the world. overall i had no trouble getting my CPAP equipment through security. all i had to do was remove the machine from the carry case and put it in a separate bin, the rest went through x-ray no problem. most security workers had trouble identifying ...

Re: ever use machine DURING flight?
just an update on how my flight went with my cpap machine: no problem going through security as soon as i explained what it was. the only thing that gave the x-ray person pause was the battery pack. as for in-flight use, i just mentioned to the flight attendant what it was and that i would like to u...

Re: OT: Today is my 35th Anniversary
Hi Everybody Today is my 35th anniversary of stopping drinking.... ...Getting in touch with reality has been painful and difficult, especially as I have had untreated sleep apnea for all of my sobriety, except the last few months. But even so, in sobriety I am at last getting to know me, and what a...
