I am not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV, but; when you lose large amounts of weight (130 - wow), often there is more skin "hanging" around than is needed to hold together the new body. Perhaps this is true of the inside airways as well. The same tissues that were obstucting breathing initially...

Pre CPAP (a little over two weeks), my mouth would drop open in my sleep as I tried to breathe. I have only used a nasal mask and a nasal pillow, and have been able to sleep without mouth breathing. The air pressure of the CPAP makes it very noticeable when my mouth opens (I hate talking with it on)...

What province are you in? In Ontario the sleep study is covered, and the government kicks in 75% of the cost (up to $780 of the CPAP system - mask & machine & hose, etc.) every 5 years. By law, companies that sell CPAP machines in Ontario have to offer a start-up CPAP system for $1040 or under. I l...

We have "health care" in Canada, and it doesn't cover CPAP machines or diagnostic sleep studies. If your lucky, you may get insurance coverage with Blue Cross, Sun Life, etc., that covers part of your costs. My insurance paid 80% for my CPAP gear up to a limit they described as "normal cost".
