Re: Air in stomach all the time from CPAP and major rainout

I struggled with aerophagia for years. It is the primary reason I ended up with an auto adjusting bilevel machine. For me though the PAP air in my belly would be gone in a couple of hours at most. This next part may seem unrelated, but bear with me and I will connect the dots. About 4 years ago I wa...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Yes, too soon to over analyze. If he were here right now he'd probably tell me to relax and let the machine do its thing.

I will look at things again when I get back in town (glad I could at least take a peek before I left though).

Thank you for the link, will do some reading while I'm gone.

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Most of the events were clear airway. Likely him waking up and tossing a bit as he adjusts to the mask, etc I hope? http://i.imgur.com/AgZcHXVl.png I don't understand the double line for the leak rate (started half way through the night). Thoughts? Should I put this in a new thread or leave it here?

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Check your SleepyHead version. It's possible since you have been using SleepyHead a long time that you don't have the latest version and the latest version is the ONLY version that will work with the DreamStation machines. Latest version is 1.0.0 Beta 2 https://sleepyhead.jedimark.net/ You need to ...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Well, he made it through his first night of PAP therapy and kept the mask on all night! YAY! He said other than getting used to "the thing on my face" it was comfortable and didn't bother him at all. He picked the DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask because he liked how the hose was on top of the head. He sle...

Re: Very new to this world

Welcome, I remember how happy I was to be diagnosed (almost 9 years ago) . I was exhausted for years but it was always attributed to fibromyalgia. It was just part of life (I thought). PAP therapy gave me my life back. Looking back I don't know how I managed to raise my children, hold down a job and...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Thanks Pugsy. I knew it would be on the machine somewhere (probably on the back or the bottom). Just didn't know what to look for.

Muchos gracias!

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Time for an update along with a new question. Hubby gets his new machine today. Insurance wants an at home titration with an APAP rather than a sleep lab titration. I' am fine with that, and if I'm fine he says he's fine because he knows I'll help him if he runs into trouble. We've decided to go wit...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

He will definitely have a machine with full data capabilities. Whether or not the sleep doc wants that info is irrelevant. My therapy has hummed along seamlessly for as long as 18 months at a time. But when I hit a bump in the road, having all that data has been the key to getting past it. No sense ...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Looking at all of these machines makes me want to get a new one too even though mine does its job perfectly. I have also wanted to test out the "for Her" algorithm just to see what the difference feels like but so far I haven't wanted to test it out bad enough to spend the money. No kidding! After ...

Re: AHI down after quitting a FFM

I also experienced an improvement in my therapy after switching from a FFM to nasal pillows with a chin strap. I had always been FFM due to mouth breathing and had invested considerable time, effort and money into things to help me get a good enough seal, avoid pressure sores, and prevent irritation...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

Is insurance involved or are you paying for it out of pocket? Our insurance pays 100% for DME, no deductible, no out of pocket whatsoever. I would go for the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset For Her and have the 3rd mode if needed. And it has a filter cover. Now if you were going to use battery power for...

Re: Husband starting PAP therapy, machine suggestions?

I still lean towards ResMed. I personally lean towards Respironics but only because of aerophagia issues. Their machine manages to keep me at lower pressures while still keeping things under control which means I fill up with air far less often then I used to. On the other hand, the cat couldn't ge...
