BiPap Recommendations
I had a BiPap titration last week and have a follow-up appointment with the pulmonologist next week to review the results. There's no guarantee he'll be writing a BiPap prescription but just in case I'd like to be educated on what machines to consider. I very much like the data screen on my S8. It's...

Re: make your own CPAP mask cleaner?
As far as face washing goes, I take a hand towel and run it under hot water then wring it out so it is damp, sort of like the hot towel you get on an airplane. No soap. I just wipe my face and then dry with the dry part of the towel. Works great and I have very oily skin.

Re: make your own CPAP mask cleaner?
I just fill my sink with hot water, give it a squirt of hand soap (unscented) and swirl the mask in the suds, then rinse. Works great and is very easy.

Fascinating, and I am thinking he may be onto something. I will admit that my (friends') hangovers are much less severe since starting CPAP.roster wrote:Dr. Park believes bad hangovers after drinking are mainly due to sleep apnea.

Re: What does Untreated Sleep Apnea do to you?
Without CPAP I wake up feeling like I have a really horrible hangover. With CPAP I wake up feeling fantastic. My doctor said this is because of a CO2 buildup which is one cause of hangover symptoms.

Re: Sidesleepers - Strange, but Worked
I remember once a questioner asked Miss Manners how to handle a situation in a movie theater where other patrons were behaving in a manner the questioner thought innapropriate. Miss Manners answered that the thing to do is to bring it to the attention of the management and let them handle it, if the...

Re: EPR making results worse?
I actually get improved numbers with EPR on, and at 3. I have mostly central hypopneas. I suspect that the the sudden jump in pressure at the beginning of a breath helps me to follow through with a fuller breath.

Re: Sidesleepers - Strange, but Worked
Yeah, the safety issue occurred to me as well, but my alarm clock woke me up no problem. I even snoozed a few times before untying the pillow. I don't have it super-tight or anything, and my face is open to the world. We'll see how this goes...

Sidesleepers - Strange, but Worked
Last night I tried something different to keep my mask in place. As a side sleeper and a CPAP rookie who's getting more comfortable with the mask, I'm getting worse leakage numbers because I've been less strict about sleeping on my back. I wrapped my pillow around my head into a "U" shape, with the ...

Colonoscopy/Endoscopy Coming Up
When I get the "twilight sleep" anesthesia for a medical procedure do I need to be on CPAP or a respirator of some sort?

Re: Going to Bed On Time
Carbonman - that's exactly how I was raised! Even though I'm 45, staying up late still feels like a, "Your not the boss of me" thing. I'm sure there's plenty of psychoanalysis potential in there.

Going to Bed On Time
When I first started CPAP I was meticulous about my sleep hygiene, but as time has rolled on I've slacked off. If I don't go to bed early enough to get the full eight hours I really feel it the next day. Video games, TV, the Internet, etc. are so tempting when it's time to go to bed, though, and I c...

Re: Night vs. Morning
I've been convinced that the machine was off (or even that I had taken the mask off) upon waking. My face sometimes completely acclimates to the pressure and I feel nothing. A quick check of the mask and a gentle pull to lift it away from my face, followed by the woosh of air, let me know that all i...

Re: Poll: How Long to Adjust & Start Sleeping Restfully?
It was immediate for me. My titration study was the first time I had worn a CPAP and I was refreshed like I hadn't been, maybe, ever. Even my vision was better. I hated going without for the week or so while I waited for my "real" equipment to arrive. It's been two months now and I'm beginning to ta...
