Re: O/T Help/votes needed in a Baking Challenge

Just voted for you. Strangely enough, I made a chicken casserole last night that was somewhat similar. l used Parmesan cheese and cream cheese, and used leftover chicken and gravy. Everything was from scratch. Topped it with tea biscuit recipe from my Better Homes and Gardens and it didn't last long...

Re: Hybrid Masks

Sorry you had to abandon both those masks Bob. I sleep on my side and don't have any problems with my Liberty. I have not had the opportunity to try a Hybrid. Don't think they're quite as readily available in Canada, but then I haven't looked either. I usually get my puffy pillow positioned so that ...

Re: CPAP Therapy is Good for the Heart!

[quote="BleepingBeauty"][ I handed out copies of the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Muffy's tips on sleep hygiene. We all have to do what we can, and educating just one person at a time is better than none. I think I'll do just that at my quilting retreat in October. I know that 5 of us have machines,...

Re: Help me please, new user, new to message board

Hiya TD, I have my first month in now, and sure do know what you're going through. I don't wear the mask you have. I have a Liberty and it's working well for me. Everyone has different mask needs and preferences. Do a search here to find comments and suggestions about your particular mask. That help...

Re: Advice a Quiet Cpap Machine

Since I don't know what part of Canada you live in, it's hard to advise re:places to get your CPAP. I have an Elite II, and it's very quiet. I know that Shopper's Drug Marts have a medical equipment supply divisions and they handle some brands of CPAP machines. Sleep Management Group, offices in Lon...

Re: Telling youg children why you have a cpap

Funny this just came up on the forums. Our little almost 5-yr. old granddaughter was just introduced to Grandma's breathing machine this weekend. In her typical, caretaker fashion, before we went to sleep on Saturday night, she said "Grandma, are you getting sleepy? Then put on your mask!". I don't ...

Improvements I think

Woke up early this morning to go to work and found that my AHI was 6.7. and for the first time ever, my AI was 0. Leaks were 0.04. I'm not too worried about the HI because of something I discovered last evening. I had prepared for bed early, donned my mask and headgear, and read for a little. I re-a...

Re: I'm thinking it really works!

Over time, the AHI tends to get lower at whatever pressure you are at. I guess it is your body relaxing and allowing the pressure to do its thing. So I wouldn't change things quickly. That could very well be, as my numbers the past two nights continue to improve. I'm not going to change anything fo...

Re: Thank you, everybody!!

Welcome Fishhead. I'm fairly new here too. And as far as not fitting the "profile", that happened to me as well, until I switched family docs to get a referral for things that were going wrong. I'm a bit older than you are, but active, not obese, and didn't exhibit any signs or symptoms of sleep ape...

I'm thinking it really works!

Much better night than previous one with my new Liberty mask. This is the first time in over 2 weeks, since starting CPAP, that I have AHI numbers that are not in the double digits! I was really beginning to think it wasn't going to happen. Last night, I turned off the EPR and here is what resulted....

Re: New Mask, Rotten Night

Oh Pugsy, sorry about the incorrect number, but the leakage number was 0.08, not 0.8. So maybe not so bad after all with the leakage thing?

Re: New Mask, Rotten Night

Okay, so the leakage is the problem. So many numbers floating around, I almost give up trying to keep them straight. Not familiar with the parameters yet, so I don't know what is really bad, etc. for the leakage. When I went to sleep, I couldn't feel anything leaking. Must have happened when I moved...

New Mask, Rotten Night

Well, I woke up to a headache, and checked the numbers on my machine....not stellar at all. I had such high hopes. My mouth felt horribly dry. Leaks 0.08 AHI 19.0 AI 5.7 HI 13.3 The AHI is about what it was with my Swift LT for Her, but the AI is higher. Before, it was anywhere from about 1.5 to 3.3...

Re: Canada's Health System Crumbling?

Maybe it's just political rhetoric ramping up for a fall election. Seems to happen quite a bit, considering we have elections almost annually! Personally, as a health-care worker and a consumer, it's not perfect, but it's not all bad either. We can access care without mortgaging our homes, or paying...
