Re: Newbie....and HATE my mask
Welcome. If a nasal-pillows-style mask is an option for you (perhaps with a chin strap, if necessary), I would recommend looking into it. My own experience has been that less mask is likely to mean less leaks (especially as my facial and jaw muscles relax) and an easier transition. The style turned ...

Re: Arghhh! Why can't new Windows be more backwards compatible?
I was able to get Sandman Therapy 1.4 to access my Sandman Info under 64-bit Windows 7 today. The application itself works fine under Windows 7, but the supplied drivers don't (though they will work in Windows XP Mode if you attach the ISIS USB device in the virtual PC running XP). With a bunch more...

Re: Absurd data from Sandman Info
.... I would check and verify you hose connections and good and tight and check for any cracks in the hose by bending it a bit. Good thought. I'll check it out. Days since last reboot? Yeah, I was thinking it might need either a power-cycle or an erase-all-data for house-keeping purposes. Or perhap...

Re: How did YOU Resolve Your Mouth-Leaks? (poll)
Can someone PM to tell me what the tongue trick is? Don't wish to take away attention from this thread. You've probably already gotten PMs about this by now, but I think the answer is relevant to the thread so I'm going to reply here anyway for the sake of newer readers. The "tongue trick" is just ...

Re: How did YOU Resolve Your Mouth-Leaks? (poll)
A chin strap helps me keep my jaw closed, and the tongue trick helps keep the air from rushing out between my lips. I generally have my humidifer on 4 (out of 10, which provides comfortable nasal humidity without excessive condensation), but sometimes still have some dry mouth. I brush thoroughly ev...

Absurd data from Sandman Info
Has anybody ever seen a Sandman series machine flip out and munge data like this? http://www.katzung.net/images/unreal_info.jpg This is a Sandman Info (CPAP, not APAP) at 11 cm. I was not aware of any change in therapy, and woke up with the mask on. The data looks the same on two different downloads...

Re: Chin strap
What is the best chin strap that does NOT leave indentations and lines all over the face? Thanks for your opinions. A chin strap that's followed by a hot shower in the morning? No chin strap at all? (Some people prefer to mouth-tape instead.) I'm not sure there are any that technically meet your re...

Re: Side Sleepers - Need Some Advice
While it may not be your particular issue, or your only issue, the pillow thickness versus your personal anatomy can definitely make a difference. If one pillow leaves your neck too low and two raises it too high, you can get intermediate 1-1.5" foam spacer pillows from places like Relax the Back. W...

Re: Are Clinician Manuals Illegal
Sadly bureaucracy often trumps a prescription. Providers are not required to fill a prescription at all and are within their rights to not fill a perfectly legal prescription that runs amiss of their rules. The most common cause is an insurance company but where DME is involved its often a matter o...

Re: Traveling with C-Pap
There are numerous previous threads on cpaptalk.com about traveling with CPAP. A search (right under the CPAPTalk.com logo) for "travel" will get a lot of irrelevant hits, but a search for "TSA" seems to give pretty useful results.

Yeah, mine. And all of her staff must undergo a sleep study. I'm not sure if they all try on a mask too, but my mask fitter, who does not have OSA, certainly has.harry33 wrote:anyone ever heard of a sleep doc who has apnea?

PS - If you are not already aware, there are dedicated pediatric forums on http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/, http://www.apneasupport.org/, and http://www.sleepguide.com/group/sleepdisorderschildren that may also be of interest to you.

Re: New Cure for Sleep Apnea
Getting bored and looking to stir up a little discussion, Rooster? This isn't exactly "new" new--people were posting about it on apneasupport at least as far back as March. I have to wonder about an inventor who advertises that he has to look at his watch three times to calculate that 12 hours have ...

Re: SPO 7500 pulse oximeter for $350
I have an SPO7500, and even though I didn't want to spend that much, I tried three Contec pulse oximeters and couldn't get one to maintain a decent signal. The SPO7500 works well, and the software is very detailed though not difficult to use. I got it from Turner Medical and had no problems. Turner...
