Re: Poor man's camping humidifier
I agree with concerns about mold growth. However, I think the possibility is low using antimicrobial filter material and changing it nightly.

Re: Poor man's camping humidifier
ChicagoGranny is correct: I neglected to report how much water left the tank. Fortunately, I made sure to look after using it the second night: using the wick alone depleted the tank by at least half.

Re: Poor man's camping humidifier
The results are in after three days of camping. The poor man's humidifier was a success . . . sort of . . . maybe. But in the process, I came up with an easier and cheaper solution than my original one. The first night, I set up the humidifier as described with the hand warmers and added an L-shaped...

Re: Poor man's camping humidifier
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and informed questions. I had considered using a large container, but wasn't sure I could get the lid and hose portals to seal adequately to the container. Depending on how things go, that might be my next project. I'll put a pot of water on the stove--the cabi...

Re: Poor man's camping humidifier
I'm using a Remstar Pro M series. I appreciate the point about the number of watts required. It may be futile, but I'll experiment by varying the number of handwarmer packs. Thanks also for the heads up on the REMstar passover humidifier--unfortunately it doesn't fall under the category of "poor man...

Re: Poor man's camping humidifier
I'm a procrastinator, so this rig will be field tested in two days. I'll post the results and some pics when I return, but I am hoping that if anyone has suggestions before I go they will add their two cents worth.

Poor man's camping humidifier
I'm going camping in a few days and have a deep cycle battery to run my Resmed. The humidifier in simple passover mode won't be enough for me, so I'm thinking of the following and wondered if anyone might have input for me. My plan is to take the Resmed humidifier tank out of the electrically heated...

Re: BuzzPOD product for OSA?
An update to my earlier message: The inventor of the BuzzPOD, Michael Gorman, replied to my email query about the availability of his product, saying it was going to be released in about 10 days. It can either be purchased outright or rented (the prices he quoted seemed to be in Australian dollars--...

BuzzPOD product for OSA?
Has anyone heard of a device called the BuzzPOD? It's apparently designed for people with positional sleep apnea, and is essentially a device on a band that goes around the chest. If the user lies on their back, the device vibrates until the wearer rolls onto their side (the inventor states on his w...

Hybrid fitting question
I was excited to receive my new Innomed Hybrid mask recently but am having a fitting issue, despite having followed the numerous suggestions on this board and the product instructions. The mouth seal works great, but the nasal seal doesn't, and I think the problem may be the fairly long distance bet...

Re: CPAP in prison
Thanks for the "inside" information, Montana User. I imagine that well-rested, healthier inmates would create a much better atmosphere for prisoners and guards alike.

CPAP in prison
No, I'm not going to prison (as far as I know), but seeing the thread about CPAP in nursing homes made me wonder about prisoners with sleep apnea. I'd guess that prisons would have to allow the inmates access to medically necessary devices, but I can also imagine that CPAP machines might have some p...

Re: EPAP is small valve you can wear in your nostrils
I believe there has been some discussion on this board of this device (marketed as "Provent"). If you look at the manufacturer's website and track down the studies that are listed, you'll find that the studies were fairly small and showed promise only for those with mild or moderate OSA. Plus, I don...

Re: Does nasal mask enlarge nostrils?
Thanks for the link. Perhaps I am not as crazy as I thought--others have apparently had their nostrils stretched as well. On the bright side, it is a bit easier to breath during the day.

Does nasal mask enlarge nostrils?
This may just be my overactive imagination, but I swear that after having used the Swift LT exclusively for the past 6 months, my nostrils look bigger to me when I look in the mirror. Does anyone else sense that their nostrils are being stretched? When I turn on the CPAP (14 cm), I definitely feel t...
