Re: After 1 week I am miserable
Everyone's saying the right thing: Turn up the ramp time. When I started I went to 45 minutes Turn the EPR to max, if that doesn't work, then you need a Bi-Pap (I use one) A full-face mask always freaked me out. Try a nasal mask. It's much easier, just don't try to talk, or anything else that opens...

Re: Problems using CPAP - Nasal congestion
Had the same thing... my ENT said the tissues in your nose can "swell just like erectile tissue" (exact words). He said to take ONE (and only one) shot of Dristan in each nostril before bed. It shrinks the tissue fine, and at that dosage you won't get hooked on it. If you don't like that, he said th...

Encore Pro Software CD
Can someone tell me if the Respironics Encore Pro CD is screen-printed or has a cd sticker on it? I bought the software (supposedly new) off of ebay (sorry but funds are very low), and what I got was a CD and nothing else. It looks kinda funny. Don't want to get into trouble!
Thanks,
Don

Re: OT: Insurance companies suck
Call the Gov't Medicare office and ask them what THEY pay a lab for the sleep study. You'll be surprised. Here in Texas they get about $350 TOTAL for a split sleep study with titration - and you didn't even get that. If you've got to pay cash for the study, only offer them the Gov't medicare fee. An...

Re: Getting a machine from DME, please advise
Don't wait... I just went through the same thing. Your regular Dr can write you a script for a xPAP machine, hose, and mask. All he needs to note is the type (CPap, etc) - NOT THE BRAND. Then you can get whatever you want - if you have insurance, (like my Blue Cross) - I just have to pay the 20% of ...

Re: Made it through the night-3rd night!
I see you're using a full-face mask. A good question is was that what they used at the sleep center to do your titration? If they did your titration on a nasal mask, the pressures may be wrong for a full-face mask if you have some pathway issues in the sinus. A little Preparation H CREAM works great...

Re: M Series Whisper Cap
Depends what you're hearing .... for me, it killed the noise coming from the air intake on mine. But you can still hear the motor "whirring". Bottom line is if your pressures are high (mine is BiPaP 20/14)... might be worthwhile. Otherwise buy a longer hose and move the machine away more!

THANX - Got first full night in!! WooHoo!!
THANKS to everyone on this forum.... Finally, after the 5th night, I successfully used by new bipap all night and today I feel great!!! It took some considerable "tuning" to get things to work... #1 being able to access the programming on the Bipap so I could increase the ramp-time and enable the B...

Hello All, Did my sleep study and I have apnea! I'm exciting about getting my cpap.. but funds are limited. So frankly, I was thinking about getting the unit from cpap.com versus the Dr-who-did-the-sleep-study's-STORE-next-door. Outside of taking a bunch more $$$ out of my wallet, the Dr's- STORE of...
