Data Analysis (RERA, CPAP vs APAP)
Thanks to Wulfman and Pugsy I now have access to my detailed data via SH, and a new way to consume time on my computer I have been comparing straight CPAP (10 cm), vs APAP (9.0cm min). Both show relatively high (?) levels of RERA, which seems representative of other days I have looked at. The first ...

Re: help assessing sleep cycles trying to adjust meds
A friend of ours was diagnosed with Meniere's a few years ago, and has written extensively about his experience. He has been able to almost completely control the symptoms through lifestyle modifications, and paying very careful attention to the additives in foods, water, etc. It isn't directly on p...

Re: CPAP vs Auto Setting
I was successfully able to download Sleepyhead MAC OSX 9.6 to my iMac, and to import the SD Card from my machine! For the first time I have actual data on what is occurring as I am receiving treatment. Thank you again for all of your guidance! I had one minor user error, I inserted the SD Card into ...

Re: CPAP vs Auto Setting
With Dens help I was able to better determine my machines capabilities for data collection. I have a PR Remstar System One Auto A-Flex (Model 550P) which has a SD card (not the older smart card). As I am a Mac user exclusively, I believe Sleepyhead will work since it I have a full data model (450 or...

Re: CPAP vs Auto Setting
What a helpful set of replies... I am looking into sourcing the analytics HW/SW, it seems the equipment I have provides good therapy, and if I can access the data there isn't a clear benefit to upgrading. Pugsy: If I am unable to obtain the hw/sw myself I will pm you about your offer to send you the...

Re: CPAP vs Auto Setting
Thanks all for your replies, especially Den . I'm not trying to be misleading, it is more related to my lack of understanding (due to my absence from treatment and this site). I do appreciate the guidance. Absent a current capability to collect and interpret data I am wondering if I should reset the...

Re: CPAP vs Auto Setting
Wulfman, As I understand the Auto setting/capability vs. straight CPAP at 9cm, the auto setting will optimize the treatment level. Setting the auto minimum near to the 9cm CPAP will avoid the machine regularly starting at a needlessly low setting (i.e. 4cm with daily recurring periods of ineffective...

CPAP vs Auto Setting
My machine has been set in CPAP mode, at 9 cm since I began using it. I fell off treatment for an lengthy period, but a number of health issues reinforced the important of re-establishing the discipline. For the past five weeks I have been 100% compliant, averaging @ 9hrs use per night. My last slee...

I initially bought the swift, then purchased the confortlite 2 when it became available. I am a side sleeper. The swift is the least obtrusive but I had trouble sleeping on my side as the nasal pillows got dislodged with the swift. The Comfortlite 2 is IMHO a better choice for side sleepers. The hea...

You mentioned you wouldn't mind spending some $$$ if you got to choose... If your financial situation allows this I suggest purchasing directly your equipment at CPAP.com. In my case this was less than my 50% co-pay that my insurance would have provided because CPAP.com prices are so much cheaper th...

My stats are almost identical to yours. I started with the DME, then decided to procure my machine directly. I ended up getting a low end machne (Remstar plus) initially from the DME and ultimately puchased an Auto-Cflex direct from CPAP.com. Call yor insurance directly and determine if they will co...

Bottom line: Despite having 50% insurance coverage it was significantly cheaper for me to purchase my Auto Cflex machine without any insurance. My 50% co-pay with the DME was significantly higher than paying CPAP.com price without insurance. Midnight Son ps. good for you for doing your homework, No ...

Sleep Doc approved Auto, but recommends using Manual settin
Per my previous posts I was prescribed a Remstar Pro 3/17 despite wanting the Auto w/ C-Flex. As the remedy was waiting to see the sleep doc 4/14 for a different prescription Rested Gal and others suggested proceeding with the Pro unit being supplied by the DME. I finally had my appointment Friday w...

Ready to purchase a Remstar Auto w/ CFLEX
I am ready to purchase (monday?) the Remstar Auto w/ cflex and heated humidifier. How long to the shipment of the M Series Auto? If 1 month I will wait (like smaller footprint), if longer I will go ahead with the auto. Anyone have any idea other than it is after the heated humidifier shipments?

Gerry, I am also a new user using swift. I assume you read the lengthy swift thread, You had to search for it, but the best advice I read was in adjusting the mask. It indicated many people over tighten the headgear, and suggested loosening the straps until it leaks then very slowly tighten just eno...
