Re: mouth taping
When I applied tape the first time, I rolled my lips in, but found myself biting my lips. Now I just place the tape over my lips. I even make sure that they are slightly parted. But until this rash heals, I am back to fighting with the chin strap. I did look at some of the other chin straps availabl...

Re: mouth taping
I am using a "Johnson and Johnson " brand of surgical tape. I tried cloth bandaids before that. I think I will try putting a piece of tissue over the area
with the rash and try to be carful removing it. I do not use the same piece of tape when I remove it to get water.

mouth taping
I have finally adapted to taping my mouth shut. But I seem to have developed a rash next to my lips. Is this normal? Has anyone else that tapes their mouth shut had this problem and did it finally go away. I have only been taping for about a week and only all night long for the last two nights.

mouth taping
I am thinking about tapping my mouth shut at night. My chin strap keeps coming off, no matter how tight I make it. It just slides forward or backward. I read about other people taping their mouth. I am guessing they are using surgical tape, or maybe duct tape.Any suggestions?

Re: humidity
It's funny that you mentioned to wear the mask loose. Last night I did that and didn't seem to lose any pressure, nor did I wake up looking like the Joker.I had been wearing the mask and all the straps so tight that I had lines all over my face that lasted about half an hour.

Re: humidity
I did turn the ramp speed down, so that isn't a problem. I do use a chin strap, but It slips off occasionally and I end up waking up with air blowing out of my mouth. The Therapist told me to just pull the tube off and leave the mask on when I get up at night, I tried it and ended up pulling the pla...

Re: humidity
Are you serious? Do you think it is easier to stop the machine, take a drink of water, then wait through the ramping again, rather than taking the top off a bottle of water. I was looking for advice on types of bottles or possibly the best type of squirt bottle to use when you are half asleep.

Re: Need help for stuffy nose nights
Have you tried the "Sleep Right Nose straps " . I have been using them for about 3 years, ever since my doctor warned me about nose sprays. It takes some getting used to, but compared to getting used to the mask and straps, it will be a piece of cake. If you have a "Target " in your neighborhood, yo...

Re: intentionally holding your breath while sleeping?
I find that I do it most often when I sleep on my back, which is the most comfortable position for me.

Re: intentionally holding your breath while sleeping?
When you hold your breath , do you hold it after you exhale? That is when I find myself doing it. Then I take several large breaths.

Re: just got started on cpap July 1,2009
I filled out the profile , now I am all set. Does the cpap make you breath deeper? I seem to be breathing deeper before I go to sleep. But I don't know what happens after I fall asleep. I was wondering if the pressure made you breath deeper . Also , If I wore a full face mask, would I still need the...

Re: just got started on cpap July 1,2009
I did turn the ramp speed down to 5 min. It helped alot. The therapist set the ramp speed to 25 min. It took me a couple of days to figure out how to control the ramp speed. I just didn't think about controling it during the day and didn't feel like trying to figure it out during the night. The ther...
