What would cause someone using a VPAP to breathe very rapidly as though they are hyperventalating. My husband is using a ResMed VPap S with the humidifier set at 1 and a Mirage Quatro mask. We have a high-quality water filter/softener. It still left slimy deposits in the water reservor. When we use distilled....problem sloved!

Do you not know how to change the pressure yourself? It's easy! Do you have the clinician's manual? Most people here do know how to adjust their own machines. My husband had the surgery in 1987 and in just a few years had to begin using the BiPap machine. All the surgery seemed to do for him was open his throat so that every time he eats food goes down "the wrong way". Wish we had know about the machine BEFORE he had the surgery. Much better choice!
