Re: Hybrid mask with nasal pillow question
The hybrid mask hurt my nostrils. The air coming into the nose burnt my nostrils and irritated them, made them hurt. I had to use foam earplugs into the nose pillows to decrease the air into my nose. With that fix, it seems good thus far. best wishes.

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
Thanks for all suggestions/help. No university physician. Just local cheap community college, but in MAY I'll be able to get insurance w/job. Also as pugsby mentioned, I think cpap auction follows same guidelines for requiring prescriptions now for masks. The foam ear plugs inserted into the chamber...

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
Nope on the PCP. I'm student, no insurance until May 2010. About 6 months ago, when I self-diagnosed w/OSA, I went to my PCP (paid cash) to try and get Rx for machine. He said no, that I'd need a sleep study. So, luckily I found a good working machine on craigslist... and thus the journey has begun....

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
Oh yeah... someone mentioned insurance. Well, I bought my first mask from cpap.com w/insurance. Well, the mask worked for a while, and the insurance expired.... so I'm now out of luck. The second mask, I didn't buy the insurance, but got 50% money back through cpap.com (good customer service). My 3r...

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
The ThermoSmart hose has a special connect that also picks up power from the machine. Here's a pic: http://www.cpap-supply.com/ThermoSmart-Heated-Breathing-Tube-p/900hc522.htm You would have to figure out how to connect it to your xPAP and to a power supply that you would have to supply. Okay, I se...

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
On issue of heated hose, I'm afraid to use the DIY pet iguana hose, may cause fire or meltdown. But, what about this heated hose, it's only $44. Fisher & Paykel ThermoSmart Heated CPAP Tubing http://www.cpapxchange.com/cpap-tubing-hoses-bipap/ But it says, "For use exclusively with Fisher & Paykel S...

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
Only thing I can figure out why the 1st mask started leaking is because I've lost weight? Dunno. I've lost like 18 lbs. The mask feels too big now in a way. I don't know, frustrating. Pugsby, wonder if foam ear plugs would work? Maybe I can collapse some ear plugs into the nares ports and let them e...

Re: The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
Thanks everyone. @DoriC - yes, I did, I've adjusted every which way I can. @jnk, have humidifer, but bad rain out. Haven't got the heated hose, too much money. I've tried the covers and everything, nothing stops the rainout, heavy ac unit / humidity down south. @Karen, you mentioned, "There are plug...

The CPAP MoneyPit = Masks
Man, I just about ready to give up. These masks are killing me. 1) Ultra Mirage Full Face CPAP Mask with Headgear - Medium Standard $140 - worked for about a month, but leaking around the nose, unable to stop, even after cleaning. 2) OptiLife Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear $120 ( + $25 premium...

Hey good idea, I'll try the strings first tonight.cflame1 wrote:DC... what I did when one of my clips broke (before I found a replacement for them)... was that I took a piece of string and tied the strap to the mask.
No fumes that way.

Re: Two Innomed Hybrid Mask Q's
Thanks thus far. On the clip issue, wonder if I can use some type of epoxy and just cement 3 of the 4 clips into place? Would it melt the plastic? Also... my unit is brand new, I just got it, don't know if they've redone the clips, but my clips definitely don't lock in place, they fit fine and all, ...

Two Innomed Hybrid Mask Q's
Got the Innomed Hybrid mask, it's MUCH better than my prior full face mask. 2 Questions: 1) How do you keep the headgear connected to the mask? The clips come off real easy. I notice last night the clips came off twice while sleeping... and if I tighter the straps any tighter, it will literally hurt...

morning back pain finally gone
Finally, after nearly 2 months of cpap, the morning achy back pain from top to bottom is finally gone. It was soooo awful. I thought it would never stop. What it shows me though is how more relaxed and restful sleep I'm getting compared to years and years of APNEA sleep.
