Re: Cleaning Mask, Hose and Humidifier

I clean the seal, head rests, and inside of my mask every night because mine gets oily from face oils, also. I wash the humidifier tank about once a month with hot water and antibacterial soap. I have never washed the hose and, frankly, don't relish the idea of wrestling with it to get it on and off...

Re: What is your take on daily emptying of your humidifier?

I am in the club that just tops it off with more fresh distilled water when the tank gets low. The only time I empty it out is if I am going on a road trip or when I get a wild hair and wash it out.

Re: Packing the BiPap

I have a Bipap and have overnighted with it many times. I empty out the water tank, and let it air dry for a bit and poke a thin washcloth in the opening to absorb any dribbles, separate the humidifier from the machine, and pack it all into the carrying bag it came with. My Resmed came with a bag th...

Re: How tired were you?

By the time I got to my sleep doctor, I had been falling asleep everytime my body got still for even a few seconds. I would fall asleep while talking--mid-sentence--then wake up and continue talking and never realize. I was falling asleep in the middle of phone conversations at home and at work--I w...

Re: CPAP during cold/flu

I started with cold symptoms yesterday. Last night I irrigated with the NeilMed squeeze bottle and that helped some. I had no trouble sleeping. I use a FFmask all the time but had not thought about turning up the humidity as y'all have suggested. I will try that. Any special cleaning I need to do on...

Re: new user, strange problem

I think it is sweet that your dog is obviously concerned about what is going on and was trying to protect you! I am betting that if you let him sniff the mask and listen to the sounds, etc that he will get used to it and figure out that it is not trying to eat your face!!! Best wishes to you and you...

Re: newbee

I'm sorry . . . I certainly did not mean to offend anyone, pretend to be little Mary Sunshine or to imply that ANYthing about this ordeal is EASY. I don't think ANYONE likes being hooked up to a hose, having a mask separate us from our significant other, or all the other things that come along with ...

Re: question about full face masks

I only had my second sleep study three weeks ago and have only had eleven nights on my machine. This is the only mask I have ever slept in and the same pressures that were set after that second sleep study. The RT that is working with me from the DME place tried three other masks on me a couple of d...

Re: newbee

I think everyone is probably different in how long it takes to get used to it all. I have only had my gear for two weeks and was very wary at first because I have some claustrophobia issues. But, I was feeling so sick and so bad and fighting sleep had taken over my life. Because of that, I was excit...

question about full face masks

I am two weeks into my cpap use and am feeling so much better. However, I am having a hard time with my face mask not leaking. I am using a Quattro full face mask but my pressures are a variation of 19 to 22 so the mask is blowing off my face! I do okay but just get frustrated being awakend by burps...

Tell me what Full Face Mask you like and why

I have been using a bipap for a week now and am using the Mirage Quattro mask. Even with my mild claustrophobia, it has been easy to get used to, is soft and comfortable, and fairly easy to put on. My problem is, I have a lot of problems with leaks and burps. Someone posted a few days ago about how ...

Last night was first on BIPAP . . .

And I could NOT believe how ALERT AND AWAKE I felt today!!!!!!!!! I woke up only twice during the night--both times because I obviously moved and pulled the tube off the mask. I'll need to find the "wisdom" info about the hook and the scrunchie! The second time was ~5am. I had two alarm clocks set f...

Provigil, anyone???

My doctor started me on Provigil last Wednesday so I have now taken 7 pills total. I cannot tell one thing new or different since I have been taking it. The doctor's office told me it can take a couple of weeks to reach its maximum effects or to show effects. As a pharmacist, I know this. But, as a ...
