Re: AHI varies a lot from day to day--do others have this?

Yep, it sucks--I think something is kind of wrong with my particular story. But, maybe I should be happy with an average AHI of 6. I was diagnosed at 35, so something is working. ..just not very well every day...

Re: AHI varies a lot from day to day--do others have this?

Yeh I know it's not much pressure. My situation may be a little odd. Yes, the sleep study showed there are centrals, about half the total apneas. The sleep study showed increased apneas as pressure was raised, and that's what happens at home if I raise the pressure either in fixed increments (e.g., ...

Re: AHI varies a lot from day to day--do others have this?

Yes, the data are from the Encore Viewer. Pressure is only 5 cm and straight CPAP. Been on that for 1+ year. Only had the viewer for a month, so did not know that the AHI was varying so much. The leak rate is nearly always < 30 and below the rated leak rate.

AHI varies a lot from day to day--do others have this?

My AHI averages about 6 over a period of a month or so, but varies a lot from day to day. Over the last week, it was 3, 12, 5, 19, 14, 4, 2. I can sure tell the difference between a 2 or 3 and a 12 or 14. It's a long ways to a sleep doctor from here, so before I go, I'm just wondering whether this i...

Sleep doctor in Colorado Front Range area?

Not sure if it is OK to ask this question? Can anyone recommend a sleep doctor in the Denver to Fort Collins, Colorado area?

Encore viewer shows erratic AHI

Hi, Been using CPAP fixed at 5 cm for more than a year now, based on my initial sleep study, which showed moderate OSA. My local primary care doctor just moved and a sleep doctor is 2 hours away. Just got Encore Viewer because of several worries, including days when I feel fine and days when I am ve...

Welcome Blossom. Well, not sure about your particular machine. One way is to get a battery that has an inverter (turns the direct current or DC from the battery into alternating current or AC like in your home), and a socket so you can plug your machine in just like into the wall. The battery needs ...

Activa and mustache

I had a mustache too, but did shave it off. Still adjusting to that. But, the Activa worked fine for me with the mustache. Reason I shaved was that I found out I'm a mouth breather and in order to use tape over the mouth, I found the mustache had to go. Everything works fine now, but still feel a li...

More on Xantrex recharging

Thanks to Goofproof for the warnings about using a cigarette lighter to recharge the Xantrex. The Xantrex manual does make it clear that charging this way leaves out any overcharge protection and it is a fast charge that probably isn't great for the battery in the long run, and yep could be dangerou...

Remstar Plus/C-Flex power draw

Thanks for the Fluwiki link, Eccles on the Fluwiki link says this: Results of CPAP measurements on battery power Well, using the equipment available to me at Eccleslab, I have made some measurements of my own CPAP machine to determine how much power it actually uses, and what kind of battery/solar s...

The Xantrex Powerpack and solar panels

Well, the reason to estimate the darn amperage draw for a machine from a rating or other people's experience is that I can't possibly buy a bunch of machines and do the empirical testing myself using KILL-O-WATT. So, if you have done that, please post the estimated usage here for your particular mac...

Battery operated CPAP--which machine uses least power?

Have been trying to figure out which CPAP uses the least power, so I can get a smallish AGM battery to run it for 4-5 days of camping use. I use 6 cm straight CPAP and would use it w/o humidifier. So far, it seems that the ResMed S8 Escape is the lowest--as it uses just 0.80 amps per hour at 6 cm. I...

Paper tape leads to lip spot?

Am a mouthbreather. Tried the polygrip strips, but didn't like the goo in the morning. Tried to find the gentle micropore tape people have recommended, but nothing local, so just picked up some "paper tape". That worked nicely for several days, and greatly decreased the number of times I woke up ove...

I too have found the Activa to work well for us side-sleepers. The reason it does I think in part is that it has a relatively large, loosely flexible nasal covering and as you breathe in and out it flexes and keeps a pretty good seal. I also bought a Comfortlite 2 and found it to be nice and light a...
