After doing a little more reading, I decided to try disabling the CFLEX function, so it's working now as a straight APAP... and the whine is noticeably less. So, for now I'll probably leave well enough alone.

REMstar Auto C-Flex whine - repair or replace?
I've been using a REMstar Auto C-Flex for quite a while, and like having both the auto pap function and the c-flex... but over the last couple of months the machine has been making a whining sound with every inhale/exhale that is quite annoying. It seems to be getting louder, as I'm now having troub...

Can't wait to order vanilla!
I've been using the pur-sleep oils for 6 nights so far, and have found that I am falling asleep much more quickly than I had been for the previous few weeks. It's very pleasant to fall asleep (and wake) to the essential oil scents, much more so than the damp air smell! I can't wait for the vanilla, ...

Great sleeps!
After about 10 months (during 8 of which I didn't know of all of the options), I've finally found the right combination for me to be as close to 100% compliant as possible! I've slept between 7 and 9 hours straight most of the last 12 nights - with my CPAP on! I got myself a Remstar Auto with CFlex ...

tjc - I'm having the same thing happen. I don't know if it always happened, but I've certainly become more aware of it since starting CPAP treatment. It can happen anywhere from once to about 10 times during that "drifting off" stage. When I first lie down with my cpap on I'll be focused on making s...

The nasal pillows caused some irritation just inside the nostrils for me too. But I tried using some saline gel before around the area just before going to bed, and again in the morning, and found that after a few days the irritation resolved itself. However, I've also found that if I go a couple of...

I'm using the Breeze nasal pillow system on some nights (other nights I'm using the Activa mask), and have the REMstar Auto CFlex. So far, I haven't noticed any problems. The official word from Respironics though is that the REMstar Auto won't work properly with nasal pillows. The email response I g...

Another, different, Scott here. I'm in Northern CA and have Apria as my DME. Needless to say, I've recently switched to getting my CPAP related stuff online. When I went into Apria they had about 8 of us there with one representative (I assume she was an RRT) who showed us how to put on our masks an...

I have no doubt that all sorts of problems (diagnosed and undiagnosed) may have OSA as a contributing factor. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with disthymia (a mild sort of depression), but I now realize that the real issue may have been lack of good sleep leading to a lack of energy, interest...

Might getting a fitted mouth guard of some kind (sort of like the invisilign braces - except made to keep your teeth in place rather than move them) help to avoid this problem? My girlfriend still wears her last invisilign set at night to keep her teeth from moving back at all after having them fixe...

Traveling with my new CPAP
I'm going to be getting on a plane this afternoon, and will be taking my CPAP with me for the first time. I know I can take it without it being counted as part of my carry on, but what I don't know is whether it's safe for it to go through the x-ray stuff at security. I assume it should be (after al...
