Re: QUITTING CPAP

I hate CPAP. I hate mask leaks. I hate red spots on the bridge of my nose. I hate crease lines on my cheeks. I hate relying on a machine to help me breath. I hate not being able to fall asleep holding onto my wife. I hate changing the humidifier water. I hate cleaning the mask. I hate dragging the C...

How do you clean your headgear straps?

I have a need to clean mine, but not sure the best way. I plan to leave the clips on and the straps velcroed so I don't need to readjust. My first thought was to just throw it in the washer and dryer, but would that be too rough, or the detergents too harsh? May be an elementary question, but most o...

Question born of paranoia

When I first started on CPAP, it was very obvious to me that air was blowing. When I would turn the machine on, that initial burst would almost take my breath away. I felt like I HAD to inhale or my head would be blown off. But now, after a couple of months, the blowing air is almost imperceptible t...

Re: How often to see the sleep doc?

Didn't like my sleep doc at all. First time I went to him complaining that I was still sleepy during the day, he basically said "it's not sleep apnea, we've got you on CPAP for that, here, take Provigil." That was 3 years ago. Haven't been back since.

Re: Second night with the Quattro - not much better

Make sure your face and mask are clean. I use my wife's Neutrogena and some CPAP mask wipes and it helps A LOT. You wouldn't think it would, but it really cuts down on leaks.

Re: The most annoying part of CPAP therapy...

And yes to the reality that some nights are just from hell! But thank the good Lord that most nights are fairly decent. I guess we just need to be reminded of how bad it used to be and how fortunate we are! Jeff Indeed. At least we aren't being robbed of our breath anymore. I'll take some mask issu...

The most annoying part of CPAP therapy...

I get my mask fitted perfectly...no leaks...low AHI...feeling good...then one night, my mask just doesn't seem to fit right...everything's a little *off*...start adjusting the straps...and spend the next week trying to get it to fit perfectly again. Anyone else experience this??? Maybe the straps ar...

One advantage I've read about is that if the Rebellion calls you in the middle of the night, you're ready to attack the Death Star within a moment's notice.

Slept without my CPAP last night

is all I can muster. I've been sick the past couple of days and I woke up last night after about an hour sweating, feeling sick, uncomfortable, etc. Jerked off my mask because I didn't feel like dealing with potential leaks, etc. Felt it this morning. Felt like I'd been hit by a truck. You don't re...

Re: Anyone "take breaks" from their CPAP?

Well, when I started this thread, I'd only been on my CPAP for a couple of weeks (after letting it sit idle for almost 3 years) and wasn't completely convinced it was benefitting me enough to worry about dragging it on a plane/cruise ship/etc. After receiving my card reader and software, I discovere...

Last night's data. Not sure I can get it any better than this. Hopefully I can maintain it.

All of these alternative treatments seem to be for mild/moderate apnea patients. In other words, it's CPAP for me until my dying day.

Re: First Encore data...help please.

RipWannabee, With leaks that high you may be having a faulty connection - or even hole in one of the tubes. You're rightly proud of yourself for wearing the mask so long -- its not easy, and you did it. Not managing to keep it from leaking is a question of luck: does the mask fit your face, and has...

Re: First Encore data...help please.

Is it basically a strap/headgear issue with the leaks? Any recommendations? It seems like it's plenty tight when I go to sleep.

I'm beyond bummed right now. So proud of myself for wearing that damned thing religiously, only to find out it's not doing me a lick of good.
