Re: New to Forums and CPAP
Thanks for the Props, Muse-Inc and Rested gal. My manager at work's even noticed the difference. It's amazing what a little bit of good sleep can do for you.

Re: New to Forums and CPAP
So...it's been a little over a week and what can I tell you so far....I felt better almost from the get go...but I was still a little tired during the day...I'd get a little sleep around 10 am and then again around 2:30. The big difference was that I wasn't falling asleep. I was able to stay awake w...

Re: New to Forums and CPAP
Thanks rested gal! I'm a science geek so I tend to be methodical! I'm also enamored with exclamation marks...ha! I think finding a good general practitioner or internist is key to "fixing things" so I did a lot of research on my current doc before I chose him. The internet is an amazing thing. LOL. ...

Re: Anyone glad they were diagnosed?
From reading through this thread it seems that a lot of you had problems with physicians who tried everything else before looking at OSA or just didn't think of it as an option. Is this actually common? My doctor immediately sent me to an ENT who specialized in OSA and sleep disorders to have me tes...

Re: I have just been diagnosed and I cannot believe
It's my understanding that your heart works harder and as a result there's increased pressure in the heart in individuals with sleep apnea. The body responds by producing a hormone (ANP) that also acts as a diuretic and increases frequency of urination. This hasn't been effectively studied, though, ...

Re: Anyone glad they were diagnosed?
To quote the old GIJoe Cartoons..."Knowing is half the battle". Being diagnosed explained so many things and also gave me a concrete enemy to attack. You can't treat something if you don't know what it is. Now I know, and knowing really is half the battle.

Re: New to Forums and CPAP
Hi Joseph. I think you may have misposted. I'm new to CPAP but I'm quite familiar with how it works and how it's used. Nevertheless I appreciate the useful info. Night 3 didn't go quite as well as night 2. I think it just took me longer to fall asleep so I got less sleep. I didn't wake up or have is...

Re: New to Forums and CPAP
Thanks for the feedback alnhwrd. I crashed a little during a very long webmeeting this morning, but I'm a bit better than usual post lunch, etc....almost energetic! LOL. I added my device info as suggested. It looks like my device does data recording now (originally it didn't) so I won't have to tak...

Re: New to Forums and CPAP
Good to hear, Sleepless. It looks like your first night went well. My second night went a lot better than night 1. I hit the sack around 10:30 and used the ramp. I didn't turn on the humidifier because I figured the nasal spray would keep me nice and moist...WRONG! I woke up around 12:30 because my ...

Re: Tonights the first night
It sounds like your first night went a lot better than mine! Congrats. I can't imagine using it at a pressure of 20! Mine's at 13 and I think that's high. It's my understanding that you do have to empty the tank and rinse it with warm water and a mild soap every day (and then leave it to dry). This ...

Re: New to Forums and CPAP
Thanks Guys. I'm definitely already learning a lot from the forums. Kathy, unfortunately the DeVilBiss Intelipap CPAP machine I have doesn't have data recording. I'll probably have a followup study to check on things with my doctor. I'll keep you posted. I may keep an online sleep journal as a resou...

New to Forums and CPAP
Hi. I'm new to the forums and new to using a CPAP machine. I was recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (60 episodes an hour) and just received my device (a De Vilbis with humidifier and a Swift LT mask) yesterday. My first night was a little rough but I hear that's common. I think I just need t...
