Re: Mouth Taping - adhesive irritation

I've found that the 3M micropore tape is so effective that I only need to use a small piece and press it on very lightly - when I wake in the morning the tape is still in place doing it's job but it's so easy to remove. I used to tape my whole mouth and press the tape on tight but the next morning i...

Re: Fright Night

[quote="rosiefrosie"]I wonder if you are having an apnea event that is causing you to feel that way. What is your pressure set at. I see you have A ResMed Autoset, is it set to straight c-pap or auto and do you have the EPR set and if so to what?

My pressure is is autoset 9 - 12.

Fright Night

Has anyone else had middle of the night panic attacks with their masks ? I have no problems at all with my nasal pillows and wear them very comfortably going to bed and falling asleep. But a few times recently I've woken suddenly in an an absolute panic feeling terribly claustrophobic and I can't ri...

Re: Bed situation: Older married couples only

Funny enough I was going to post EXACTLY the same problem today and then I noticed yours. We've been married for 35 years and it's taken me a long time to get the right mask/pressure set up etc., but the one thing I haven't sorted is the cold air blowing on my hubby. I purposely avoid sleeping on my...

Re: General Anesthesia and OSA

I had the thing myself earlier this year. Even though I was told I would only have a very light anaesthetic and would be able to 'breath by myself' when I was under, I was terrified that they would leave me in the recovery room and no one would notice I had stopped breathing ! I made sure I told the...

Re: Dry Mouth Relief: Revisiting Biotene OralBalance Gel

Rooster, I suffer from dry mouth and dry throat but it's nothing to do with mouth breathing in my case as I tape my mouth. I wake up in the night with a cold dry throat. I have my humidifier as high as I can - any higher and I get noisy rain-out ! Still trying to get to the bottom of it .............

What to do for a dry throat ?

Can't seem to conquer a horribly dry throat during the night. I need several gulps of water to get me through the night even though I tape my mouth. I use a humidifier as high as I can (2.5 setting) but any higher and I get rain out and gurgles. I love my nasal pillows but have to ask the experts .....

Any ideas please - I need some sleep !

Although I haven't been one of the lucky ones who has taken to CPAP quickly and easily, I have found that using nasal pillows plus mouth taping has been working quite well for me over the last few months - that is up to a couple of nights ago ! I have no idea what's changed but suddenly now, each an...

Re: Yes I know I got to wear it

Let's face it, we would all sooner NOT have to be using CPAP ! It's taken me ages to get comfortable with it and even now I often pull the mask off in the early hours of the morning - often waking later without knowing why I pulled it off ! But I will persist with CPAP because I know sleep apnea is ...

Re: Nasal Pillows or Nasal Mask?

I struggled for months trying to get used to a mask, then tried the Swift LT and was hooked ! Took a bit of experimenting finding the right size pillows and getting them sitting just right, but I couldn't go back to a mask now. The mask made me feel claustrophobic whereas with the nasal pillows feel...

Re: OT/ Gov. report on Breast Cancer Screening

I don't believe breast checks are a waste of time - quite the opposite. I found a lump at age 42 (13 years ago) which turned out to be malignant and necessitated 6 months chemo & 6 months radiology. Point is if I hadn't found the lump it would have got bigger and by the time it was finally detected ...

Can weather affect the humidifier ?

I have figured out that I can use nasal pillows as long as I tape my mouth and use the humidifier. Since using the nasal pillows (only started recently during the colder months) my humidifer has been set at 2.5 - and it has worked well. The weather in Melbourne has been very warm and last night I wo...

Re: Mask Noise Increased

yep - got the same problem with my nasal pillows although not every night for some reason. Actually had to take them off around 2.00am last night because they started whistling ! I suspect it's got something to do with the humidifier so I've turned that down a bit. I know what you mean about the noi...

Re: Frustrated and discouraged!

You're not alone believe me! I have struggled with nasal masks and my one night with a full face mask was an absolute disaster ! I was so fed up with the dents on my face, leaks and general feeling of being uncomfortable during the night that I felt like giving it all up. However, I am now using nas...

Re: Switching between nasal pillows & mask ?

Do you clean the pillows daily? You might be reacting to soap residues like I did with allergy symptoms. I had to wash my pillows in one of the eco-friendly, rinse, spray with vinegar to disinfect & loosen any soap residues letting sit 2-3 mins, rinsing very well, then letting air dry. I clean the ...
