Re: septoplasty and turbinate surgery
It has now been 6 weeks since septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery. My biggest problem has been the inability to taste. I saw the surgeon yesterday and told him I can taste lime, lemon, banana and pickle very well and everything else is rather dulled...he said lets wait another 6 weeks before...

Re: septoplasty and turbinate surgery
I could breathe better as soon as they took the plastic splints out, 5 days after septoplasty with turbinate reduction. Breathing is improving and taste is coming back very slowly. I am glad I had it done. I had my tonsils and adenoids out when I was 5. I turn 60 this year and I remember the bad sor...

Re: septoplasty and turbinate surgery
To Detroit Sweetheart: Tomorrow is your surgery according to your post and I wish you best of luck. Plastic splints for 5 days were not fun but boy can I breathe better now...let me know if you lose your sense of taste as I have not gotten mine back yet and it has been almost a month (May 21, 2009) ...

Re: OT: Vitamin D levels a question or two
My doctor just prescribed 50,000 IU day of Vitamin D as my bloodwork showed my D level is extremely low even though I have been taking vitamins every day with about 800+ IU of D every day for a year now. I am almost 60 and what I read on the internet is that I am just in that age brackett where I ne...

Re: turbinate reduction
I saw my surgeon yesterday and he was a bit surprised that after a month of healing from the septoplasty with turbinate reduction that I taste almost nothing...I see him in a month and he said if I still can't taste he is ordering an MRI of my brain. Not what I wanted to hear, but I am encouraged by...

Re: turbinate reduction
To all that had this surgery, I am breathing much better, not perfect yet as my sinuses internally are still swollen and tender..but at last I can sleep w/o waking up more than once or twice during the night, whereas before, I was awake every 30 minutes due to no air coming through my sinuses. Doc s...

Re: turbinate reduction
thanks for reassurance...It will have been 3 weeks on Thursday that I had this surgery...This is my 3rd sinus operation. The first 2 where deviated nasal septums and I got my sense of taste back in about 5 days, so for this to drag out almost 3 weeks is a little bit disturbing...but since you say it...

Re: turbinate reduction
I can tell if something is sweet, tangy, etc. but that is about it. I can smell vinegar in the bottle, but can't taste it on food. I can smell ketchup, mustard, etc. in their bottle, but just can't taste them...wondering if this is normal...getting concerned.
