Re: How is resmed auto-flex different from c-flex?
I'm afraid I can't make much sense, at first glance, of those graphs. Could you please explain to me why one is preferable over another. Why a user would choose one over the other? Or is it a crap shoot? Try different settings and see what happens?

Re: How is resmed auto-flex different from c-flex?
Yes, it is an M series auto cpap with a-flex. My apologies...
In what way is it different? What would be the advantage of one over the other?

How is resmed auto-flex different from c-flex?
MY DME replaced a broken machine today and gave me a resmed auto cpap with auto-flex. I was just getting used to the c-flex setting and was, in fact, experimenting with no c-flex at all. What exactly is auto-flex and how does it differ from c-flex?

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
Thank you all for the recent suggestions. I have been having difficulty finding the right range - last night I bumped up to 14/20 and found it to be too much pressure. I am going to back down to 12/18 where I got the most consistent results - AHI around 5 plus or minus 2. Still not a great score. I ...

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
Still struggling to find the right setting for my auto cpap. I have been raising it slowly from 8.5. Usually, when I raise the minimum, the AHI goes up for a day and then down for a few days and then----back up! I recently bumped it to 13 and my AHI went to 6.4 the first night to 8.2 the next night!...

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
I've spent some time studying the algorithm that you furnished to me in a link. I'm afraid I could use some help in understanding the chart and what the implications it holds for those of us trying to find the right setting using our autopaps. Wulfman, can you provide me with some direction?

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
I'm aware of the limitations of not having a card reader and software. Unfortunately all I have access to right now is a MAC and the software is incompatible. I do clear the data every morning so the numbers I use are derived from a single night. Sure, the 90% is a percentile score. It points the wa...

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
Thank you for the advice about setting the machine on straight cpap. I'm curious, though, about why you think that would be better. In either case, the dependent variable is still the AHI. We can vary the independent variable - min setting or cpap pressure - and get just as good a read on the ideal ...

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
What I am most interested in finding out is whether other people have had the experience of bumping up their minimum pressures, getting an initial positive result in terms of their AHI, only to find that in a few days the AHI and the 90% begins climbing again and they need to raise the min again. W...

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
I haven't been eager to contact the DME because I have begun the process of programming the machine myself and I don't know how he'll respond to that. He wasn't eager to have me learn to do it myself. What I am most interested in finding out is whether other people have had the experience of bumping...

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
The aching fatigue that I felt before starting treatment has gone away. Some days when my AHI is over 4 or 5 I feel like I'm sleep walking, I struggle to keep my eyes open at work and I feel cloudy. Other days I feel more substantial and have more energy. These tend to be days when my AHI is lower.

Re: Trying to find the right settings.
You're right. I should have been posting my leak rate. In general it has been in the acceptable range for my mask - always under 40 - generally in the 32 - 37 range. I started taping my mouth because I hated the chin strap. I reset the machine every day so these numbers are single night data. Thank ...

Trying to find the right settings.
I'm having trouble finding the proper settings for my auto cpap machine. My sleep study was pretty unproductive. They couldn't finish titrating me the first night so I had to go back a second night. I think I slept four hours the second night. Even though the data was scanty, at a pressure of 16 the...

Noise w/ Respironics M Series
My wife appreciates that I am no longer snoring, however the howling of the machine irritates her - and if it irritates her, believe me, it irritates me! It usually gets loud over a setting of 10. Since Iim heading upwards on titration I imagine it could be getting worse in the near future. I am not...
