Re: ***WOULD YOU CHANGE PRESSURE WITHOUT DOCTOR'S KNOWLEDGE...??
I first experimented with changing my own titration two years ago, when I got ill with the swine flu. (Fun times.) At that sickness, 4 cm just wasn't doing it for me; I couldn't draw in enough air. So I went into my clinical menu, upped my minimum pressure from 4 to 6, and my max from 10 to 12. Work...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
100% compliant for the last 2 years, with only three missed days in the year before that. My machine has helped me rescue my health, and my awareness. Now, coming on three years on my CPAP, I will encourage all new "hoseheads" to take heart: The first week sucks. It sucks so bad. Having that damned ...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
http://www.approvedgasmasks.com/images/av2000mask.jpg This is the mask in question. Machining the adapter is relatively trivial, but the matter of valves isn't. Considering through-put of air into the device, I'm considering that it might be beneficial to have the exit valve and holes set in around...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
Finding the vent rate should be easy, look at a F & P 431 mask measure the DIA. of the holes and count them, drill the same in the faceplate, Use a Remstar APAP and software to check your leak rate. Use a O2 recording pulse OX to monitor your O2. You will also have to build in a safety device to ve...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
You would still have no idea what leak rate would maintain the proper pressure level yet still flush enough of the expired CO2 out of the mask to provide a safe level. Hmm. Actually, now that I think about it, I do have access to portable O2 monitors with incredibly screechy loud alarms. It might b...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
Either purchase a machine that would mimic an individual breathing on the mask that would measure the amount of expired gas that is inspired...........OR....find a research facility or hospital that would allow you to wear it while you have an indwelling arterial catheter with continous Arterial bl...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
So you want to have your eyes subjected to the CPAP pressure all night long 24 x 7? That may not be such a good idea. It may not be, or it could even possibly be better for me, depending on how the pressure differential in the sinuses would work. Bear in mind there's already work duties out there w...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
My first concern would be "How am I going to balance the exhalation ports so that the pressure remains adaquate yet at the same time washing enough CO2 out of the mask so that I don't become Hypercapnic. Furthermore, how am I going to measure that to make sure i have it right?" The diaphragms for t...

Re: Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
When trying to reinvent the wheel, start with a round shape first. it seems easier to roll uphill. What is the cost of these masks and the headgear? jim Significantly less than what I'm being quoted from my sleep provider. $70 - $200 CAD dollars. As I'm involved in the industry, I can get a scott f...

Converting SCBA full face masks a possibility?
So, I'm a new CPAP user, in my first trial month. Played around with a few masks, definitely finding that full-face for me is just a necessity. I can't draw in enough air from just my nostrils to satisfy, so I wake up gasping in the night. However, the designs of the full-face masks I've tried, whil...
