Re: Any "younger" people on here?
Was diagnosed when I was 28, a year ago, but I know I've had it longer than that. For at least 3 years before, Whenever I would get sick, I would have a cough that wouldn't go away for at least 3-6 months. I would be using lozenges all the time to try to keep from coughing consistently. My doctors c...

Re: How often do you check your sleep data
I check my readings after I wake up right on the machine - My ResMed S8 Elite II has the option to view the AI, HI, and AHI values right on the LCD for that night. I do have a card reader, and pull the summary data off usually once or twice a month. Unless I am having problems, I normally don't pull...

Re: resmed vs respironics
I think you hit it on the head about Respironics, but how many users actually look at their machine for data daily? Sorry to admit it I know I don't. That may be a good poll to start, but we'd probably be singing to the choir. I check my values on my S8 Elite II every morning because it's a few qui...

Re: Ontario peeps: ADP funding for Resmed S8 Elite II
I got my S8 Elite II through ProResp, and it was covered under ADP. I had to pay the rest over the $780 myself, and was reimbursed through my benefits.

Re: Who should I purchase my equipment from?
The experience of other forum members is that if you want to use the Ontario Funding available you need to use a Canadian Vendor. I suggest doing a forum search for Ontario and for OHIP I believe it is. The Ontario program is ADP or "Assistive Device Program". They will pay 75% of the cost of the C...

Re: Need reccomendation for mask similar to swift LT
...it doesn't come apart for you to be able to clean it (only the pillow is detachable). It doesn't appear to, but the swivel ball at the end of the small hose snaps out of the mask frame. Snaps back in, too. I was referring more to the rotating joints on the Swift LT, where you can disconnect them...

Re: Power Inverter for S8 Auto
That definitely helps A LOT! I was still confused about the different setups until I read this post. Just so I am clear on the inverter setup: Marine or Deep Cycle battery ► Inverter ► S8 Autoset II (no humidifer) Since I have an S8 Autoset II with the H4i heated humidifer, I wonder if I could keep...

Re: Need reccomendation for mask similar to swift LT
I tested the Swift LT when I was trialing my CPAP machine, and I liked it except for the nasal pillows collapsing, and the irritation caused by it pressing on my upper lip. I found the thread on the quality issues with the nasal pillows much later. I have the Opus 360 with my S8 Elite II, and it is ...

Re: Power Inverter for S8 Auto
Here is ResMed's PDF on battery requirements: http://www.resmed.com/us/documents/battery-powering-products-usa.pdf I have an S8 Elite II and the requirements are pretty similar to the Auto. You can use a converter which runs off pure DC (12V) and plugs into a battery. The standard ResMed converter h...

Re: I'm on my own in Ontario; as usual!
Wow that's tough... Ontario guy here as well. The province caps the price for all CPAP machines through the Assistive Device Program to $1060. So whether you get a standard machine with compliance data only, or a top of the line with A-Flex/C-Flex, it's usually the same price. Ontario ADP pays 75% (...

Re: ACR-38 USB Card Reader in Canada
Got my reader from the ACS supplier... I'm more of a DYI guy if I can... You don't really even need to make a guide. I just looked inside to where the PIN contacts were, stuck the card in, and it detected the first time. I may marker the border so I know where to put it easier, but its not a big dea...
