Hotels and motels
I was staying at a $139 per night hotel for a few days. I had to lift the mattress and unplug a lamp to plug in my CPAP. This week I was at a $50 something a night motel and they had an outlet right by the night stand. Traveling with a CPAP is enough of a pain. Hotels need to hear that a free outlet...

Re: Beds
Everyone is different but I find that I have better AHI results when using two pillows and having my upper torso raised a bit. I think gravity doesn't affect the flappy flesh as much in that position.

Re: How do you afford so many masks?
I know alot of you have tried many masks. I would like to do that, but my insurance has a very high deductible and masks are pretty expensive. Just curious how you pay for them all. Do you just have really good insurance that covers them, or do you make your own? I'm allowed 1 mask a year and if I ...

Re: Think I Should be MAD???????
Komodo, you answered your own question the second time. You get what you pay for. In the case of insurance paying for it, you are stuck with what they authorize. This is not to say that some negotiating can't be done. As a reasonalble compromise, perhaps they would settle on you paying for the diffe...

I'd plead the 5th amendment. I'm sure some federal court would rule in your favor!

Re: Oximeter Imput Needed
I have the CMS-50D which uses AAA cells. I preferred that as I have a bunch of rechargable batteries here. I've been very happy with it. Even loaned it to a co-worker that suspected sleep apnea and found that he wasn't desaturating much, but needs to keep an eye on things. As I did a home study and ...

Re: DME did not think I needed a mask for when I have a cold!
I've struggled with sinus congestion and have been using sprays to get through the night. When I got a cold last week, I decided that I needed a full face. I'm on my second one now, I'm fortunate to have a CPAP store in town with a 30 day exchange policy. Unfortunately the second one that I got yest...

Re: so depressed.. do i really have to wear this??
I suppose the difference is being told you have the apnea issue rather than seeking a solution to a problem yourself. I had problems. Nodding off when driving, sore throat, sleepy. Spouse had long before moved to another bedroom. I sought out help and welcomed the CPAP which has solved those symptom...

Re: Nasal or nasal pillow mask with chronic pm congestion?
You sound similar to me. I've been on CPAP nearly a year and have three masks, now four, later about that. I settled on my original nasal mask as my favorite. Recently I've had PM congestion too and have been using OTC sprays which have done the trick. However, I now have a cold and the sprays only ...

Re: Afrin use for extended periods of time
Misery loves company! I've been using various brands of oxymetazoline hydrochloride. Usually one squirt works for the night. I have a cold now and it's good for only about 45 minutes! I'm off to the local CPAP store and buying a full face mask. I can't take it anymore and have to try something else!

Re: Does Pepsi Make You Jumpy?
I don't believe this to be true for a nanosecond. They put the thing in there. While I did once have a cigar in a bottle of Coke MANY years ago, those were returnable bottles and I can see how a cigar couldn't be washed out. Almost forgot a can of baby juice had an insect in it. Sent it to Heinz and...

Resperate machine and relaxing
I hate to start a new thread but the existing one seems to have wandered and bloated in size. I avoid threads with too many pages, like more than one. Usually there is too much chaff and not enough wheat for those that don't have the time to read the bantering. No offense to those who like to be cha...

Re: Quattro mask howls
My experience is that moisture can cling to the ports and make noise. Rub your finger over the holes and if the sound changes, it is moisture. I have to click my humidifier down a notch when that happens. Also the room temperature will make it worse so if moisture is the source of the problem, you m...

Chronic sinus problem = need for full face???
I've been using CPAP for over 6 months, successfully. But this winter my sinuses, well, there are many threads about this and I've tried to read what I can find. I've been having to use nose spray to breath, as have many people here. If my sinuses are not completely clear, my chest aches from strugg...

Re: CMS-50E oximeter + RemStar Pro with C-Flex
I used my 50D to do my own titration report. I found the rule that starting out about 2cm below the maximum pressure my APAP would go to resulted in less events than letting it start low and then do it's own thing.
