Re: How can i stop mouth puffs ???

I have occaiosnal 'mouth puffs' and tend to mouth breathe. I also sleep on my back and seldom move. What works for me is to roll a bath towel and lay it on my throat... sorta wedged between my chin and upper chest. This has worked well for me and didn't require strapping my jaw or taping my mouth cl...

Re: Trying Nasal Pillows for 1st times

The first time I tried them was during my sleep study. My nose was a bit sore the next morning. I think BeanMeScot is right about this being caused by the headgear being too tight. Since using it at home, I haven't had this problem. I have a big plastic clip attached to my hose by a twist tie. I cli...

Re: Sudden case of mouth breathing THOUGHTS?

Although new to the whole CPAP thing, I also found myself opening my mouth occasionally. The sound of the air coming out generally woke me (or my partner) up. What I've done for the last couple of nights is roll a towel and put it between my neck, upper chest, and chin. I sleep on my back, so this w...

Re: Day 6 Part II: CPAP, Anger, Torture & Waterboarding

So I suppose you can't help if I tell you my Beagle snores and I'm concerned he might have Dog apnia? (Lovely kittens picture though!) One of our cats has developed what we call Cat Napnea (honestly!). She sleeps on her back quite often and snores as loud as a lot of people I've heard. When she's n...

Re: Day 6 Part II: CPAP, Anger, Torture & Waterboarding

Charles, I think the reason some people have been somewhat defensive in their responses is that your initial posts in this thread seemed to be 'down' on CPAP. After all, this is a CPAP support forum. It kind of makes me think of posting on a body art site that standard tattoo ink caused you to have ...

Re: Must have been high AHI last night

After my sleep study, I was also antsy to get my CPAP set-up. I finally received it last Wednesday. Like Rooster said, OSA is often much worse when one sleeps on the back. The problem is that that is the ONLY way I like to sleep! Any other position makes my arm and shoulder a bit sore. I have a wate...

Re: No Data - Did I Screw Up?

Did I Screw Up? If you checked last night's data after 12:00 noon today, the machine has prepared for use after noon today and stored last night's data to memory. elg5cats. Thanks for the info. I don't think it showed any data for the week, either. I'll have to check it to make sure, though. David

No Data - Did I Screw Up?

I cleared the data from my machine yesterday. I'd been 'playing' with it and practicing (much of the time trying to get the nose pieces situated correctly). I used my machine last night for about 6 hours. Today, I went into the Efficacy menu and here's what I see: Leak: No Data, AHI: No Data, AI: No...

Re: Day 6 Part II: CPAP, Anger, Torture & Waterboarding

I'm just curious how your sleep study went when you tried CPAP. I've heard answers from minimal sleep (less than 30 minutes) to a full night's sleep (me, fell asleep in 4:53, never 'woke up' 'til it was time to get up). I've heard that it was pure hell to the person slept better than ever. Are you u...

Re: Day 6 Part II: CPAP, Anger, Torture & Waterboarding

I'll agree that it is probably about attitude. Now, I'm going to hijack this thread for a few sentences. I have a life-threatening medical condition for which I take medication daily. This medication has side effects that are also unpleasant and often have to be treated as separate medical condition...

Re: New to CPAP and First Post

I went into the menu of my unit to see what my 'numbers' were. Here's what I got: AHI: 3.3 AI: 0.4 HI: 2.9 Leak: 0.24 l/s Usage: 13 hours Granted, some of this time was spent playing with the unit when I first got it, showing it to friends, getting used to and adjusting the mask, etc. I reset it to ...

Re: Vote Poll for Swift LT or Swift II

I've used each exactly once - an LT during my test and a II last night for my first time at home. I sleep ONLY on my back when I can (when I sleep alone and my snoring doesn't bother anybody and with my CPAP). For me, the II was more comfy and didn't seem to leak. I bet I could adapt to either, thou...

New to CPAP and First Post

I suppose I should do an introduction of some sort, so here goes. I'm a 43 year old male in NC. I've had some problems with fatigue for years that I thought were kind of odd, but it turns out I'm not so special after all! I thought something was not right when I found myself falling asleep at stop l...
