Re: Denied AGAIN

With such a low AHI, I can understand an insurance company questioning the need for a machine. They usually have standards like you need to have an AHI of 15 before an APAP will be approved. So "on paper" you look like you don't need a machine -- and they don't have systems for unusual cases such as...

Structural Reasons for XPAP Difficulties

Did you know that there could structural issues that prevent some people from adapting to XPAP therapy? In all I read on this forum, I don't recall seeing this. I saw my allergist the other day -- the first visit since she sent me for the sleep study. (She did comment that she'd never had to talk to...

Need help for stuffy nose nights

Hi all -- Overall, I've been adapting to life as a hoser pretty well, although last night was the first rain out I've had. But the current grass allergy season finds me w/ a stuffy nose and difficulty using my Swift for Her mask. I'm on all kinds of allergy meds and I've begun saline cleanse again. ...

Need help posting results

Hi all -- It's been almost a month since I got my Intellipap apap, and I've hardly posted since then. Computer problems, out of town company and vacation are to blame! So I have an Excel document w/ my results I'd like to post and get your analysis. I couldn't figure out how to post it. Just copying...

Re: How long from sleep study to getting Cpap?

Do you think it will pay off to be a huge pest? I was thinking of calling the doctors office every day until I know for sure he sent in the pre-authorization form once again. I just wonder if this would be such a big issue if he had ordered a cpap instead of a bipap? I'm guessing bipap is more expe...

Re: CPAP Study tomorrow

Ten -- I am a few weeks ahead of you (last night was first night on machine) -- you might want to read my posts for background. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42528&st=0&sk=t&sd=a Here is what I recommend you do. 1) talk w/ your ins co - ask how much they pay, what DMEs you can go to, c...

First Night on Fought for APAP

So I got my machine home last night I hooked it up to watch tv and get used to it, and fell asleep in my chair. Then I moved to my bed -- but didn't bother w/ humidifier since it was damp here from a day of hard rain. I was aware of the mask, and a couple of incidents when I needed to cough or yawn ...

Re: I got it!!! DME/Insurance giving me an IntelliPap

Right on, Lanndi!!! Good going! While this IntelliPAP AutoAdjust may not give you an overnight miracle , the worst, the biggest hurdle, is now behind you and you are on your way to some GOOD, RESTFUL sleep!!!! After all this the acclimation should be a piece of cake no matter how long it takes. Wha...

Re: I got it! DME/Insurance giving me an IntelliPap

RT from DME just left, leaving behind a nice shiny new DV54 AutoAdjust CPAP Series w/ heated humidifier!!! And the best thing -- he set if for APAP (range 5-20) even though my doc and ins co said that there was no medical need for auto PAP! The Rx was for CPAP w/ straight pressure of 7. I was surpri...

Re: The next chapter in DME/Insurance giving me an IntelliPap

I'm glad you're keeping a good attitude and can laugh about it. Were you able to explain what you really needed from him? He said he'd be back with the Intellipap Auto which is what his boss promised me yesterday. Although I started out wanting the ResMed that so many of you have, I am perfectly ha...

Re: The next chapter in DME/Insurance giving me an IntelliPap

LOL!! The RT who was scheduled to bring me the Intellipap auto just arrived -- WITHOUT THE MACHINE!!! He thought he was coming to help me learn how to use it and how to get my data from the computer. And he drove about 30 miles in a downpour. He may be back later today -- or tomorrow morning. <sigh>...

Re: DME/Insurance giving me an IntelliPap -- The saga continues

I think (fingers crossed) the saga is over. However, my doctor is frustrated with the many calls and Rx she's had to do on my behalf for this -- and I think much of it is directed towards me. However, right after I talked to my doc and BEFORE she called the insurance company, I talked to a VERY know...
