Re: Report on CMS50E Pulse Oximeter

Anybody else find any weirdness with the finger probe? I have small hands, but I can get a steady reading using my clip-type pulse oximeter without putting it on my thumb. I'm kind of wondering if I should have gotten the "E" instead. Too late now though.... My CMS-50F came in from SE Medical the o...

Re: Newbie ?? Elite II and Hypops Still....

Oh, also, my first several days on CPAP yielded headaches as well. Take the time to tweak humidity settings also. For me, I tried to use the highest humidity I could without having rain outs.

Re: Newbie ?? Elite II and Hypops Still....

First, I would give things a little time before you start to make any tweaks since you have been on CPAP for less than a week. Then, I would forget about the hypops for now and focus on the AI's first. Try adjusting your pressure up one AND down one in a controlled fashion, that is, keep everything ...

Re: What favorite activity did you resume post-CPAP?

For me it has been pretty basic so far after 67 days on CPAP... I am happy to be getting back to any 'normal' activity at this point... period. In hindsight, I was probably spiraling downhill for the past 2 years, ending up as pretty much a recluse in the house when I wasn't at work with depression ...

Re: Humidaire H4i

I see the H4i is not an option in the menu for humidifiers for the elite ll. Is there a firmware update? or? I noticed the same thing. The humidifier does not appear to be a customizable setting. If you disconnect the humidifier you will see the humidifier as 'none' (or something like that as I rec...

Re: Does Sleep Apnea make you Angry?

I mean, if was ranting at the toilet handle that needed jiggled (as aways) or at the TV because the commercials come on so loud (as usual), it was best I be alone. So, for me, the loud commercials and TV shows also tended to trigger anxiety attacks in addition to turning me into a snapping turtle. ...

Re: How am I doing

Computerguy, I have learned from the forum that the first question should be how do you feel ? That is the most important aspect of therapy regardless of any numbers. The following comments are based on my experiences with the same machine and masks after about 56 days... AI seems a bit high (target...

Re: Base line information for newbies.

Welcome, Bud. It looks like you have the same flow generator and mask (my 2nd) as I do. Make sure you set the mask type on the machine to SWIFT as this should adjust for the leak rate for your mask and make your rate numbers more accurate as klockemy stated. If you need any assistance with altering ...

Re: still feeling tired after cpap for 6 months

Not to be a stick in the mud but I've been on cpap almost 3 years and still don't get refreshed sleep. I fall asleep during the day if I sit down. Maybe some people aren't meant to sleep well. I still see my sleep doc every 3 months. I don't know what else to do. My mask seals very well, I have a c...

Uncle_Bob wrote:Anybody know what mask type you have to set on the Elite II for the Quattro ?
Bob, The owner's manual says: "Select ‘Mir Full’ or ‘Full Face’ as the mask option when using the Mirage Quattro with ResMed flow generators that have mask setting options." Hope that helps!

Re: All of A Sudden AHI Climbs Up

Jeff,
Any change in your stress level (i.e. increase)? I went through a few days of pretty extreme stress at work last week, my AHI's seemed to increase, but I'm not certain of this yet as I need to monitor trends more closely.

Can anyone comment on stress levels and potential impact on AHI?

Re: Awesome pulmonologist experience!

Woozle, I am really not familiar with what sort of doc one is normally referred to for OSA. My primary physician referred me to this doc who is an MD with the following specialties as noted in his profile: Pulmonology - Critical Care, Sleep Medicine - Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine, Pulmonology,...

Awesome pulmonologist experience!

I went for my first follow-up visit today since starting CPAP therapy and had an awesome experience! I liked the guy from the start but today affirmed my initial impression of him. I went in to the appointment 'prepared.' First, I had a copy of my sleep study report in hand with questions to ask. Mo...

Re: Share Your Diabetes Story: How did CPAP impact you?

I was diagnosed with type II diabetes in ~1995 and have been fortunate to continue to be in very good control (persistent A1c of 6.1) on oral meds for the last several years. I was diagnosed with OSA in March and have been on CPAP since April 6th. I have already noticed waking BG level's to be rough...
