Yes I have had blood tests. Iron was ok.
I haven't tried Magnesium or Zinc yet. My blood levels of those were ok too.
I have RLS throughout the day as well as in the evenings. It's not that bad really, just annoying. I would like to see if the meds will get it under control.

Medication for Restless Legs Syndrome
I have been diagnosed with RLS as a side effect of Geodon, a drug that I need to take for my depression. My doctor has suggested Clonidine for RLS. Has anyone had experience with this drug for RLS, and if so, can you tell me how it was/is for you. How long did it take to start working? Thanks Ms Fid...

Re: Advice needed for post-op CA's
That's good that he's trained as a sleep doctor, I have often seen posts on here saying the person's "sleep dr" is a neurologist and it eventually turns out that there isn't sleep medicine training to back it up. IMO a dr needs to have a background in respiratory or ENT plus sleep medicine quals bef...

Re: Advice needed for post-op CA's
Thanks for all the info, I will write a full reply tomorrow as I'm not very well today, but I wanted to let you know the results after I ran your height and weight through a BMI calculator: Normal weight for this height is 108 - 146 lb (49 - 66 kg) Height: 5'4" (163 cm) Weight: 179 lb (81 kg) BMI: 3...

Re: Advice needed for post-op CA's
Hi, Blue Sky, my Sleep Doctor is a neuralogist. He also has apnea so he is very familiar with all we are dealing with. It's a very user friendly group of people. I was first diagnosed about 4 years ago and that's when he told me I had had 70 episodes during the 1 hour I actually slept that night bu...

Re: After months of low AHIs, suddenly getting 8-12: why?
I used Resmed masks for the first 4 years of using ASV, and I had a terrible time with them. The F&P Simplus mask seems much better IMO. In another 6 months I'll be able to tell you how they do over time. So far so good.

Re: Advice needed for post-op CA's
Maybe ask the Rheumy (or your primary care dr) if you can take the Plaquenil in the morning instead of the evening, if it's causing insomnia and awakenings. I have fallen into that trap a few times with various meds, from not asking the prescribing dr at the time... they are supposed to always get i...

Re: After months of low AHIs, suddenly getting 8-12: why?
Sorry for the delaying in posting, and thanks again for all the suggestions everyone. I agree that ASV masks may need to be changed more often because the pressure changes affect the mask over time, however I think the degree of stiffening (or softening) is mask-dependent. I use a F&P Simplus and ha...

Re: Advice needed for post-op CA's
I've had nasal surgery and I think it's wise to get a sleep study done once the nose has healed so your sleep dr can get a clear picture of where things are currently at. I have no experience with BiPap so I can't comment on your problem, but I do know that until I got my Vpap ASV, my AHIs could not...

Re: After months of low AHIs, suddenly getting 8-12: why?
Thank you Captain Midnight, I changed the filter (it needed it) and today my AHI was 0.7, the lowest it has ever been! I still feel tired though, I guess it will take a few days to undo the damage that was done over about 10 days. Thank you Magster, good suggestions and thank you for "getting" how I...

Re: After months of low AHIs, suddenly getting 8-12: why?
Any chance you're coming down with something like the flu? I've found that my AHI seems to be an early warning system of coming down with the flu or a very, very significant head cold. Also: How old is the mask cushion? Any chance it needs to be replaced? If the AHI continues to be this high for an...

After months of low AHIs, suddenly getting 8-12: why?
I use a Resmed VPAP ASV, and was getting AHIs of 1.3-2.0 each night, then about 10 days ago I got 12, then 10, then 12 etc. Endless tweaking of my mask headgear has only got it down to 8.5. I am getting depressed again and have no energy - I'm very sensitive to changes in the quality of my sleep as ...

Re: coblation turbinate reduction
That's good advice, 49er. My turbinate reduction surgery was a success. After reading this thread I want people to know 3 things: 1. Allergy testing (skin pricks) can be done before you decide to have surgery. 2. I was able to use my xPAP on the night after the surgery, I wouldn't recommend waiting ...

Re: Can I use bipap while sick "sinus/common cold)?
If you tend to get a chest infection after a cold, it can mean you have a chronic sinus issue, which could be structural. I recommend seeing an ENT for further investigation. As an aside, did you know that the way the nose keeps itself clean is to switch around about every four hours by blocking one...

Re: Nasal Congestion during therapy
Your congestion might be caused by a structural issue inside your nose. Not all congestion is caused by a functional issue like allergies or CPAP use. A referral to an ENT specialist might help. I explain it in this thread:
