Re: central apnea and not feeling any different

The numbers: Leak=0, AHI=5, AI=0.1, Avg Pressure=8.8, VT (tidal volume)= 233-775, RR=11-15, MV=4-9, Time=7 hours
These numbers are very consistent 1 week, 1 month and 3 months

Re: central apnea and not feeling any different

No, not that the apneas feel different-I don't feel any different. I guess it is more of a survey: If you have mostly non-obstructive apneas, do you feel any better on APAP??

central apnea and not feeling any different

Is there any evidence that "Centrals" don't really feel any different? I mean I understand that it is healthier for me, but I do not really notice a difference after several months. Now, mind you, I have have only successfully used the machine for ~2 months, but started this journey in Feb 2009. For...

Re: Update: Could F&P Flexfit 432 be the one?

I wrote this a few months ago- still true. There is not much written about the Fischer & Paykel 432 mask. I have finally found the one mask for me-after 5 tries. All the others leaked like crazy or hurt (those are the two choices: too loose or too tight). This mask is surprisingly under-rated, or ju...

Re: Traveling with C-Pap

I have a suggestion I had not seen here (could have missed it) Bring an extension cord! I had to move furniture to get mine right last week. Outlets are scarce in a hotel room.

Re: eye ache

The tears follow the channels into your nose-that is why your nose drips when you cry. Pressure from within the nose can push air up into the tear ducts. I am actually surprised it does not happen more often.

Re: eye ache

I am an Ophthalmologist. The common form of Glaucoma does not hurt. The "pressure feeling" is likely due to dryness that is very common with CPAP machines. A safe thing to try is an ointment (OTC) like Refresh-PM-just a small bit in both eyes to keep them lubricated throughout the night. Then try te...

Re: POLL: How Long on xPAP Therapy? Compliant?

A better way to ask is how many people tried and quit all together. That answer is roughly 50%. I have variable success: sometimes the machine is with me and sometimes against me.

Fischer & Paykel 432 Mask

There is not much written about the Fischer & Paykel 432 mask. I have finally found the one mask for me-after 5 tries. All the others leaked like crazy or hurt (those are the two choices: too loose or too tight). This mask is surprisingly under-rated, or just not discussed. A tech recommended it at ...

Re: CPAP machine vs. Cat

Cats are inherently evil - what other conclusion can I come to after decades of living with so many! If there's a way to sabotage your life, they'll find it and teach the others. My life is totally organized around them (nothing at floor level, nothing up high if you care about it, and nothing in t...

Re: PurSleep Regenesis Buckwheat Pillow Trial

I really like this pillow. The noise is not the issue. I need a pillow to keep my head in a position where my sinuses drain. So, I have used this pillow on top of another pillow (I usually use 2) Also I have dust allergies, so this pillow (like all others) needs to be in an Aller-ease pillow case. I...

BiPAP and Cervical Fusion Surgery

So now I am worried. I am just getting the hang of Sleep Apnea and can stand That F***ing Machine (I call it TFM) for about 3-6 hours. Now I am facing Cervical fusion surgery this week...what a horrible 2009! But I need to wear a Miami-J collar for 6-10 weeks. Does anybody have any experience and wh...

Re: A Question for Cat Owners

My cat bit 3 small holes in a good tube. I did not find them until I was cleaning the tube and it started peeing all over me. Very tough to fix in a temporary fashion-tape won't work because it is a coil. a rubber band tied tightly against the holes did work. Good Luck.

Wal-Pil-O

Has anyone with sleep apnea tried this pilow? I am trying to find a cervical support/C-Pap acceptable pillow. 3 months after I was diagnosed with sleep apnea I developed a bad c6-c7 disc herniation. Man, I hate this disease. There seems to be a dozen pillows, but they all have 3 stars because half o...
