Re: anyone used both nasal pillows and nose only masks?

I was titrated with the Comfort Gel nasal mask and used that exclusively for the first couple of months, since my DME said that at my pressure (14), I wouldn't like the nasal pillows. Then I tried the OptiLife nasal pillows (in the size Large) and found it not too hard to use! I'm now on Swift LT f...

Re: O.T.: Will We Ever Have Health Police?

Well, I agree with the one who requested that we keep politics off this board. But since several have already aired their political views, I see no harm in speaking my mind, too! I am NOT a "right wing fundamentalist", I'm just one of the majority of all Americans who describe themselves as somewha...

Re: AHI very strange

Well......first of all: was Phuket time vacation time? I spent a week there in July 1998 and it was a wonderful vacation! We stayed at the Boathouse. It's not normally their "high season" in the summer, but we were living in Pakistan at the time and Thailand wasn't any steamier than Pakistan was, so...

Re: Is Anybody Happy with CPAP? Did Anyone...?

I'm VERY happy with CPAP! Before I was diagnosed, I had fatigue like an elephant sitting on me and preventing me from doing much more than moving from my bed to my chair, rinse and repeat! I didn't get energy right off the bat, but after four months of treatment I'm doing things that astound my hus...

Re: Poll: How many years before diagnosis? Treatment?

I don't know for sure when I started snoring, but I noticed something was "off" in Fall 2001. I was very very fit at that time - I'd discovered I had a case of walking pneumonia that summer because I was having difficulty swimming my usual mile. But I was getting more tired and I just chalked it up ...

Re: OT: Vitamin D levels a question or two

grumpygirl, I see my PCP next Tuesday and will get D levels checked then. I agree with you - who woulda thunk that a vitamin could be so important!!??

I'm not having any side effects either. Interesting that your ataxia moved away, too.......

Re: OT: Vitamin D levels a question or two

This is only anecdotal information on my part, OK? But I spent several months being quite concerned about my health and worrying that I just might have multiple sclerosis. I've had just about every test possible to rule out ms. One of the symptoms that troubled me was what I call "walking drunk" and...

Re: First 100 days ...

I'm still living through my first 100 days and the jury is out as far as my grade. I know that I've earned an A for effort - at least in the areas of Compliance and Self Education. Astonishing effects of CPAP? Not so sure, although it's great to stop getting up to pee 4-5 times per night!!

Re: Have you been transformed?

Not quite yet. Some improvement, not lots, though. However, I've thought for a while that my crushing fatigue was a double whammy: OSA PLUS something else. I have hypothyroidism, and although lab tests show that I'm just peachy keen on my dose of Synthroid, I don't think that's true. I'm seeing my e...

Re: My sleep doc and my DME

JimW, do you mean among forum members here? I would be quite willing to do so, but my husband is going in for his own sleep lab study next Monday night May 4th and I'm hoarding extra masks right now for him to try in case we're the same size..... He's only going to be in the USA for 29 days so the s...

Re: Really high leak rate, fairly low Apnea - problem or not?

Den, you're right: we did discuss something along these lines in my earlier thread. I'm sorry for repeating myself so, but I continue to be rather confused. With those same leak rates and AHI that I DID list in that earlier thread, my sleep doc (who is a very GOOD doc) was pleased as he looked at AL...

Re: Congestive Heart Failure and xPap Therapy

Kira, I'm too much of a "nooooob" to have any meaninful advice for you. And I didn't even read this thread at first because I didn't know anything about CHF. But the number of replies got me to open it finally. So that's my only excuse for being late to the party..... I'm so sorry to hear about your...
