Re: clinition code
I would be interested as well. As suggested by my respirologist, I want to trial the machine at a a lower pressure to compensate for the fact there is no EPR.

Re: Of sleep studies, respirologists, and skipping a night
I don't remember the details of this (and I don't think I read the original articles), so I don't know how compelling the data was that there are residual effects for one night. I haven't seen anything to suggest that there can be effects for more than 1 night, and frankly, I don't know by what mec...

Re: Of sleep studies, respirologists, and skipping a night
slapmeawake - I'm with Slinky. How was it determined that your pressure need is now 5? Is your data showing you have no events at 5? Just wondering, there's got to be a point where minimum effective pressure crosses the line into too low to breathe. Unless you have good data to substantiate that re...

Re: Of sleep studies, respirologists, and skipping a night
I am one who has lost weight and my pressure needs are all the way down to 5. My doc wants me to try to go without the machine and see how I do. This residual effect is interesting to me because I tried but never for more than 3 nights. I seem to sleep better with the machine but 5 is such a low nu...

Of sleep studies, respirologists, and skipping a night
I've been on CPAP for a year+. I was seen at a private clinic (paid for home study) and was sold a Respironics M series auto BPAP. Was on BPAP 4-8 when I started. moved up my numbers with your help to 12-16. Saw the respirologist first time last fall, he changed me from BPAP to CPAP at a presure of ...

Re: Everest (or similar CPAP) and battery use. going backpacking
Hello again, park_ridge_dave: Thanks, I don't need solar power just a battery and small CPAP unit to carry into the woods for an overnight or 2 night trip. I guess no one has experience with the Everest and its battery pack? Do any of you use a similar travel CPAP with a battery? From my research th...

Everest and battery use
Hello everyone, I have seen many positive reviews of the Everest ON CPAP.COM. I am just wondering if any of you have experience with the Everest using the battery pack. My pressure is currently 14 and I would carry the everest and a battery pack into the woods for overnight backpacking.. I miss it t...

Re: Its been a year!!!!!!
kteague, It basicaly feels like I got my life back. That's how dramatic the change has been. A year ago in march, i would fall asleep at the nursing staion during a work shift; that is how bad it had gotten. Now I wotk part-time (60%), have a full semester university course load, and still have ener...

Its been a year!!!!!!
Hello everyone, I haven't been around in a long time. A little over 12 months ago I had a number of health issues that kept me away from work for a couple of months. One of those health issues was a diagnosis of severe OSA. I had ups and downs with my therapy and other health problems but had no tro...

Re: time in apnea .. time in hypopnea??
Thanks to everyone for their responses. I am in the process of doing a second sleep study to assess where the problem might be. They are considering central sleep apneas, adjustments to my pressures, replacing my mask (after just 6 months?). All those good feelings I had during the first 6 months ar...

time in apnea .. time in hypopnea??
Hello everyone, The 'time in apnea' reported by the Encore Viewer does it also include the time in hypopnea? I would think not. So if one's hypopnea index is increasing how would one go about assessing the impact on breathing? I know if my time in apnea is 11 minutes, it's a lot! And I can imagine w...

Re: Which comes first ???
Why do my OA's increase in number with my increases in pressure? Bernard, I don't know. I never bother to even glance at the "Summary of Daily Events Per Hour" charts from the Encore report. ozij or someone else more "math" inclined than I am can probably understand the "why" of it, but I don't eve...

Re: Which comes first ???
Well, I was wondering about the nature of the leak spikes which seem to be occurring at the beginning of your events (OAs and Snores). If mouth leaks are causing a pressure loss in your airway "circuit", then the OAs and Snores could increase.....which is what they seem to be doing. Again, I have h...

Re: Which comes first ???
Den, I have had the same average leak from day 1 and have seen my AHI improve from 68 to an average AHI=4-5. I don't think leaks are a problem. If I was leaking air from my mouth I think I would notice (I did back in the beginning a few months ago). I don't know what the VS means. Titrated EPAP=5 IP...
