Re: ResMed ASV device - 2nd month, not working compared to first few weeks

I had a recent experience where my AHI suddenly jumped from under 3 to over 10 for three nights in a row. My AHI had run in the 40's with CPAP and 20's with bipap. After obtaining an ASV, my AHI ran under 3.0 for two weeks and then suddenly went up! Looking in OSCAR, I noticed the AHI was all hypopn...

Re: Boycott Rotech

I agree; my experience with Rotech was not satisfactory, so I returned the rental/leased machine after several months into a 13-month rental, and bought a machine online out-of-pocket. I found it was not worth the hastle dealing with Rotech (and with insurance compliance.) With access to OSCAR softw...

Re: Another sleep apnea "victim"

I decided to purchase an ASV machine out-of-pocket, and to return the rented dreamstation bipap to Rotech, thereby removing the DME, and insurance company, from my apnea therapy. I picked up a copy of the ASV prescription with the recommended settings from my pulmonologist, and can make the settings...

Re: Another sleep apnea "victim"

**Update** Although the doctor has acknowledged that my apnea cannot be corrected with cpap or bipap, and although he has prescribed an ASV (based on a recent titration sleep study where the sleep lab successfully eliminated all obstructives and centrals with ASV therapy), the insurance company (Hum...

Re: How to/home made ideas. Post Pictures please.

HOMEMADE HOSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. I tried just draping the hose over the back of the headboard. Rainout became a problem, partly because the hose was level or lower than the humidifier. After getting the humidifier close to the floor, I still had rainout. Whenever I had rainout,I woke up, lifted the ...

Re: How to/home made ideas. Post Pictures please.

PLATFORM FOR CPAP, Lower than my head but not on floor. I thought about using a stepstool, but wanted to try to use the nightstand. The nightstand's countertop was too high to allow rainout to flow back into the humidifier. I knew the machine needed to be nearer to the floor. Solution was to add two...

Re: Another sleep apnea "victim"

UPDATE- 30-90 Day Follow-up for Medicare. The Sleep Doctor noted that my AHI has stayed in the 10-20 range over the past 60 days, rarely falling below 10 and never below 5. He stated that he would like to know the breakdown of obstructives, hypopneas and centrals. Luckily, I had printed out the prio...

Re: ResMed ResScan™ Smart Card Reader

Zonker, yes the s8 card was proprietary in size. Here's a photo of the smart card, laying on top of a standard chipped credit card.

There's a lot more information in this post from 2009: viewtopic/t38260/ResMed-Card-Reader-differences.html

Re: ResMed ResScan™ Smart Card Reader

when I was looking for a card reader for my old S8, I found it confusing to be sure I located the proper card reader and card. I learned the s8 used a different card than the s9 and later machines. also, here is an interesting post from years ago that relates to the card reader: http://www.cpaptalk....
