Re: Finding / getting Resmed ASV
You guys were right, it was an interesting first night. Once I got used to it doing its cadence thing with my breathing, and tightening down the mask, I slept like a baby. My doctor titrated me on a non-approved nasal pillows mask. They actually sent specific directives to the DME on how to make thi...

Re: Finding / getting Resmed ASV
I picked up the machine today. Total cost was $3700 with a new mask, additional pressure line and regular hose, filters, etc etc. Definately not the cheapest thing in the world, but almost a 50% reduction in cost to the first estimate. Now to sleep with the thing. Looking forward to it. EDIT: For cl...

Re: Finding / getting Resmed ASV
So I've got some prices back from DMEs - doing footwork by calling DME companies one after another is very instructive! Anyway, the prices I've gotten are generally higher from the chain stores, and lower from the locally owned ones. The prices are from $5000 - $6900 for the machine with no humidifi...

Finding / getting Resmed ASV
Hi all I've recently had a titration for an ASV, and waiting for the paperwork in the mail, I'm looking at options for getting it. I am uninsured, and I know it's gonna be a killer in cost, so wherever I get it, I'd like somewhere I can trust and get decent service. I used Apria before with my initi...

Re: Nasal congestion try 1,547
Well, good news. I found I have alleviated my nasal congestion almost completely by simply preheating the water in the humidity chamber on my CPAP before I use it. Less good news: the surgery, although it helped, does not appear to have helped much without the above discovery. It's hard to say if I ...

Re: Nasal congestion try 1,547
Well I have a turbinate procedure scheduled for the 4th. (submucous resection of the inferior turbinates, powered method). I'm nervous about it, and am frantically trying to find a "regular" solution .. I'm sure I'll go through with it unless I find something that dramatically changes things. This h...

Nasal congestion try 1,547
What do you guys do for nasal congestion? Is nasal congestion what you notice after starting CPAP due to CPAP, or was it sitting idle until you *had* to breathe through your nose for treatment? I've tried a lot of stuff, and I've found through trial and error that most of the "tries" were actually "...

Re: Where can i find the "System One Resistance" of a ConfortGel
Call Respironics customer service. They can give you the resistance values for your mask. The rep may not understand your question - the one I talked to hadn't had a question about the resistance values before me - but they can get them for you. In the case of the Optilife (what I use), it's differe...

Re: Caveats to using APAP in CPAP mode?
I got it yesterday. The resistance setting is thrilling - it seems to allow you to adjust the amount it adjusts or "gives way" when you inhale(!) I just got off the phone with Respironics customer service and got the resistance values for my mask (Optilife - small and medium sized pillows are X1 and...

Re: Caveats to using APAP in CPAP mode?
Thanks guys for your input! Adjusting your therapy based on flow limitations.. that's really awesome. It's such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the low level of care I'm getting from my sleep doctors, all the money I've spent, the downtime.. ugh. I bought the PR System One Auto now knowing th...

Re: Caveats to using APAP in CPAP mode?
cinco, with your M-Series APAP do you know if it is possible to select a straight CPAP mode instead of reducing the range in APAP? I've found from experience I sleep best with a straight CPAP, specifically the Respironics M-Series models. I have a Resmed S8 Escape II now, and it's like I have to rea...

Caveats to using APAP in CPAP mode?
Hi all I'm considering getting the newer Respironics PR System One APAP. I'm used to using a CPAP and I'll probably use the machine in that mode mostly, but I've used an APAP from time to time from my doctor and DME. Are there caveats to using an APAP mainly in CPAP mode? Are there any differences i...

Re: Frustrated with treatment
Updated my equipment profile to be accurate to the new machine I'm using. The masks I swap between the Optilife and a Resmed nasal mask. Humidity - Julie - thanks for that suggestion. I pretty much had thought I had it figured out, but the last couple of sleeps I've completely disabled the humidifie...

Re: Frustrated with treatment
Yeah. I'm using a Resmed machine, replace the hypoallergenic filter every other week. Yesterday I bought those filters from a few different sites.. I notice the pictures aren't the same from site to site, and what I have here doesn't seem to match any of them, so something I'll play with once they a...

Re: S8 Hypo Allergenic Filters - Where to buy?
Ok, I put through an order with cpapusa.com. I'm interested in these outfits and the filters.. the filters I get from cfas.com don't appear like the image they show, and the image on cpapusa.com looks like the image on cfas.com. Hmm. The ones I got from cfas.com are white on the back and a mesh blue...
