ComfortFusion

I don't know just what it is that they are trying, but, if it has the word "Comfort" in it, it's got to be uncomfortable and unusuable. My opinion only as I've tried them all.

Apria and ResMed

I've been using Apria for some 4.5 years. They've gotten me several Activa masks and charged them to Medicare. This is Apria in Athens, GA. But, I've had the best service from cpap.com, in that I purchased my APAP and necessary filters from them. Best of luck to you! Georgia Hosehead

I too, like the Optilife. I clip my 6 foot hose to the headgear, so that the mask hose passes up the left side of my face. I tend to sleep mostly on my right side and my back. For left side sleep, I carefully position to tube in front of my ear. Of course, I have to unclip the hose to make a potty t...

Hi Sharon, Have you asked your doctor about a thyroid deficiency? an underactive thyroid can display many of the symptoms that you describe. If the answer is no, then get to your doctor ASAP. It's treatable with a tiny tablet taken once daily. Good luck! Georgia Hosehead

Electric Plugs

I just returned from a trip to Norway where I took my P&B 420e APAP and heated humidifier. It worked like a champ on the 220 volt, 50 hertz power. Using my standard US extension cord, all I needed was a simple plug adapter. Back home, it works on 120 volts and 60 hertz power. It's a great piece of e...

Have any of you tried 3M Blenderm tape? It's hypoallergenic, stays put all night, and is easily removed in the morning without taking off parts of your lips, It is tough to remove shortly after application, if say, you need to take a pill or get a drink of water. For a source, Google "Blenderm".

You might want to try the ResMed Activa mask, size L. A lot of folks here swear by it. It does not need to be worn very tightly; in fact, it feels almost loose enough to fall off the face. It allows either side sleeping and exhausts next to the hose input (minimal disturbance with a bed partner). It...

Hey, all you young folks, Georgia Hosehead here. I'm a retiree, age 74, and I have been on CPAP for over 3.6 years. I have a Puritan Bennett 420e with a ResMed Activa mask and an Aussie heated hose. Three mornings a week on the treadmill is great for keeping the ol' ticker working. I recently had a ...

It's good to hear that you're pleased with your Hans Rudolph mask. The one I have was fitted using the calipers and it leaked horribly. With the terrible headgear, the leaks and the red marks on the face, I retired it to the shelf of unsuccessful masks. Hope yours works out better.

Hans Rudolph Full Face Mask

I aquired one of these from my local DME (Apria), after they were approved by their home office. We used the sizing calipers first. The mask leaked like a seive, and had an abomination of a headgear. The DME then got me the insert to tighten the seal around the nose. The mask leaked excessively when...

It's the mask that (it seems) most DME's will use on new patients. That only means that Respironics reps are the best in the market. Personally, I have found that any mask with the word "Comfort" is not the best for me. I alternate between the ResMed Activa and the Aura mask, and I've tried over 9 d...

When you come in the patient's room to check something or to adjust the mask, DO NOT turn on the overhead lights. It thoroughly disturbs the possibility of the patient sleeping. The sleep tech did this to me about 6-7 times. I suggested to the management that they have a light under the bed or have ...

There's a product called "It Sticks", a water soluble adhesive normally used to hold up support hose or to hold in place wigs or toupees. I bought it from A suppotr hose specialty company in Mass. It works like a charm.

I have two Activa masks, so I'll have a spare just in case. The oldest one has a matte finish on the flexible part that fits against the nose and cheek areas. To get a seal every time, I wipe my nose area and the seal areas with a barely damp washcloth. Put on the headgear (loose fit) and turn on th...
