Re: New Software iPhone, Web, and Backup
This is Resmed's goal with ResTraxx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp0OQchHvSY Holy big brother, Batman! Did they intentional try to make this as spooky/scary as possible? Music, voice, and message combine to make this sound like a fake ad from a sci-fi movie. If it wasn't Resmed, I would have as...

Re: First night on new Aloha nasal pillow mask
I had a good night with the Aloha mask. I think the best think I can say about it is that it was less noticeable and a tad more comfortable than the Swift LT. I used just a little bit of lanolin, more as reassurance to me than because of necessity. I never noticed any leaking - I sometimes do when I...

Re: First night on new Aloha nasal pillow mask
I just pulled my new Aloha out of the box to try it on. I use a Swift LT now, most often with the cushion hacked up for Breeze pillow inserts. After about a five minute trial, I think I am really going to like the Aloha. I might not even need the lanolin to help the seal. With the Swift LT, sometime...

Re: Mask Humor
When we got a new puppy (insane dog - named Taz and has earned the name) I had to change my mask behaviors. I never used to put my mask away when I took it off. The mask is a Resmed Swift LT, ususally with Breeze pillows inserted into the cushion (http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=433248#p4332...

Re: Interesting DME situation
The doctor seemed surprised when my dad said he wasn't happy with the machine he got, and seemed interested learn about the new Resmed S9 Auotset (my dad seemed to think the doc was talking like he did not know of such a machine). Dad showed the doc brochures of the S9 line that he had printed out ...

Re: Interesting DME situation
My father has heart and lung issues (beryllium disease). His biggest complaint is that is hard to exhale at higher pressures. Should he and a doctor discuss bipap? Certainly. That is like asking should breathing be an option? I asked my Dad if he told the doctor about the beryllium. He said that he...

Re: Interesting DME situation
Okay, this got interesting again. First my dad finally looked at his machine thoroughly and realized it was an escape and not an Autoset as he had told me. My dad says that whenever his machine got to his prescribed pressure of 18, he woke up very uncomfortable - having trouble exhaling. He made an ...

Re: Interesting DME situation
Yes indeed, Archangel , the important thing is that my dad not give up. I also reminded him that, at least, he got a great machine without having to fight that battle. He seems committed to giving cpap a chance. He just let me know he had a better night last night, apparently they turned on the EPR....

Re: Interesting DME situation
Sorry for any lack of clarity. The machine was set on CPAP mode with a pressure of 18. Over the phone, I walked my father through finding out that much (the S9 is very different than my old s8 elite and my intellipap). However, no one at the sleep center/DME/ doctor's office has told him what the pr...

Interesting DME situation
My eighty-something year old Dad was just diagnosed with sleep apnea. He had a two night study and I was surprised to find that he went home from his titration with a machine - that same morning- on Wednesday of last week. Now, he got a great machine, a Resmed S9 Autoset, but he is having some troub...

Re: Perpetual Motion Machine
This could be a revolutionary concept. If you put several of these cat-toast devices together, you could make a hovercraft to replace cars. There would, of course, be changes to the language we use discussing transportation: "My hovercraft has 94 catpower," "I get 32 MPL (miles per loaf)." Instead o...

Re: Newbie questions
I seem to have a bit of a burning sensation where the mask sits on my chin. Any ideas? How do you handle answering the phone while wearing the mask? I pulled the hose off. I ordered a hose cozy. The cat just tonight discovered the hose. Aaaack. Are you allergic to the mask material? Is there a rash...

Re: Backup Machine: same/different
I have the cable that goes straight from machine to computer (eliminates the need for the card). I used to have an S8 elite II. Well then you do have sort of a toss up then. I have never used a ResMed and often wondered how I would do with one but you have used the Elite. So you have sort of an ide...

Re: Backup Machine: same/different
Do you have the connectors needed to get the data off the ResMed S8 card to the computer? Those aren't easy to come by and aren't cheap. If not, that may be a factor in your decision. The software is easy to get but the data card reader or cables may not be so easy to get. Heck, even the data cards...

Backup Machine: same/different
I am considering getting a backup/travel accompaniment to my Intellipap Auto. I could get a new intellipap machine or a used S8 AutoSet II for nearly the same price range (I already have the software for both). Is there any theraputic value in having two different machines? Or is there more value in...
