So doe this make it illegal for me to give away my father's old CPAP? I know there are people out there who need them and are not insured -- I would hate to see a perfectly good machine go to waste.

Re: used CPAP
Thanks for the advice, Gumby, I have edited my email address as you advised -- although that's not my real email, it's just a disposable email I use for things like this. If it got too messed up with spam I'd just get rid of it and get another.

used CPAP
I am cleaning out things from my late father and I found his CPAP. It's a Remstar Choice LS, model #M367550E. My dad did not tolerate CPAP well, so I doubt the machine was used more than a few nights. (But honestly, I don't know how much he used it.) Does anyone want it? I am willing to give it away...

Re: When do you get used to it?
Virginia, I hope you're still here and still trying. I'm a newbie myself but I wanted to comment on one thing that you said. You said you are thinking of yourself as "not normal". I want to encourage you to not use this kind of negative thinking. The truth is many, many people are walking around and...

Re: unsupportive family
Pineapple, My mom is 82 and she lives with us. It's really hard to avoid her and to avoid a topic, but as I said, I have enlisted the help of the family. One thing about having her living here is that my family really does understand when I say she's doing something that bothers me -- before she liv...

Re: Two questions from newbie
Thanks for your replies. My eyes aren't dry, they are actually tearing MORE. I didn't expect that.
Oh, and I am not on O2, just normal room air.
I am going to have to just tell my husband to tap me on the shoulder and tell me roll over; don't know how else to handle the air in his ear problem.

Two questions from newbie
1. My eyes feel very strange in the morning -- teary and almost as if I've been crying. I have to keep wiping my eyes because they tear up and my vision is blurred with tears. This sensation lasts pretty much all day. Anyone else experience this? It's uncomfortable. 2. Any ideas on how to minimize th...

Re: unsupportive family
Bonnie, Dad died in 2006. He had heart disease and Parkinson's Disease. His sleep apnea was never treated appropriately; I wonder if he would have lived longer had his OSA been treated. I guess we'll never know. I do know it runs in our family; my dad, two of my brothers and I all have/had it. Also ...

unsupportive family
Guess I am a little cranky. My mother has been giving me a hard time about how stupid CPAP looks. Apparently she gave my father a hard time, laughed at him, and told us all how dumb it looked. I wonder if that's why he couldn't tolerate the treatment? Also, she assumes sleep apnea = obesity, and if ...

Re: Does prolonged OSA contibute to Dementias ?
My father died of complications of Parkinson's Disease in 2006. He also had CAD and had had a CABG in 1986 (which lasted him until his death). And yes, he had untreated OSA. He was diagnosed in 1990-something, tried CPAP but could not tolerate it, tried a dental appliance but could not tolerate it, ...

On my second night of cpap
Hi all, I am a newbie here. Last night was my first on cpap. I have a RemStar Auto A-Flex M-series and a swift LT "for her" nasal mask. I did ok on the machine from 11 last night until about 5:30. When I woke up I could not get back to sleep with the mask on -- I usually sleep until about 6:30 or 7,...
