Re: respironics m series plus cflex
I have this same model CPAP and it does make different noise on inhale/exhale. I don't use Cflex, and that made it much better, plus I sleep with a ceiling fan whirring overhead, so it just does not bother me. Some people are more sensitive to sounds than others though, especially certain pitches. D...

Re: Tape for mouth leaks
This might work if my problem was keeping my mouth closed, but I have no problem keeping my mouth shut (well, just don't ask my husband ). I use the tape because my lips part under the pressure and air --and therapy escapes as they "flutter." Even using medical grade paper tape, I spring a leak at t...

Re: Survey: how much do we want new treatment options?
You do understand that there is more to it than feeling sleepy, right? In reading your questions, a reduction of 50% would not help too much in my case, because it would still leave me with severe apnea. As for me, I am perfectly happy with my CPAP therapy. It works for me and I have no desire to tr...

Re: losing hope!
You may still be having arousals that are not related to AHI. Even if your AHI looks great, you still may not be getting great sleep. I have RA also, and even though my AHI is fine, I am still tired from the many awakenings caused by medication side effects and pain, and I have lots of fatigue from ...

Re: Just started treatment and my face aches & is marked up
I have been using the ComfortGel for 18 months and have never had a problem with anything breaking. I know they have had a rep for the badly designed clip, but it has worked just fine for me. It is comfortable, and it comes in petite, which is what I have been using. I recently started using a Resme...

Re: weight gain with Cpap??
I gained weight when I started CPAP, about 20 pounds. Even though I became more active. I think it was partly because I had heard so many people say that I would lose weight and I just assumed it would come off without me eating differently. Fast forward a year, and an RA diagnosis. I started paying...

Re: OT: Swollen Fingers, Not Arthritis?
RA can be very difficult to diagnose. I have pain in both hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, feet, knees and ankles. My bloodwork came back normal for a year, yet I was getting worse, but no visible swelling. 3 stage nuclear bone scan came back just fine also. Some days I can't dress myself or hold a...

Re: Apnea, lap-band surgery and my big mouth!
Julie, I do know that if we could figure out a simple and foolproof solution to OSA that would cure everyone, no matter what the cause, we would be really wealthy women! I have been on the forum for the last 18 months or so, and I enjoy your posts and your passion. It is never a bad thing to shake u...

Re: No longer need CPAP
Good for you Resmed user! We are happy for your success. No one wanted to give you a hard time, but only wanted to be sure you were protecting your health! So often it is tempting to say, "I feel better," but fail to take the steps necessary to make sure treatment is no longer needed. This applies t...

Re: No longer need CPAP
That is my point JayC. I don't really care about all the studies or what the surgery may or may not do, or has been proven to do or not do. I am concerned about the OP-this single individual--have the steps been taken to ensure that the treatment is no longer needed? Weight loss, in my case, require...

Re: Please tell me it's going to be OK!
Of course it is going to be okay! The important thing is to NOT PANIC! The treatment is pretty simple, air pressure, keeping your airway open at night. No needles, no drugs, just air. It WILL take getting used to. It WILL improve your health--just think of all the cells you are starving for oxygen e...

Re: How Has CPAP Changed You and Your Life?
After 18 months of CPAP No more crashing on the sofa as soon as I get home from work. No more falling asleep during meetings, conferences, at the movies, or during my daughters' theater productions. I had not seen an entire move in about 5 years pre-CPAP. No more driving to work with one eye shut be...

Re: why do we need to change mask if working? medical reason?
As long as your mask is working, I too, say stick with it. I did buy a second one to have on hand in case the first developed a problem, and after awhile I started alternating them. I have replaced individual components when they become worn or uncomfortable. I hate wasting money on something I don'...
