Re: I'm new...what do I need to know?

If the DME company tries to give you a ResMed Tango CPAP machine, don't except it. It not good enough.

Re: My nightly results thread.

You seem to be tolerating the pressure well, and more importantly, you are feeling the benefits of therapy already. You can't beat that.

Re: do the hoses wear out?

The spot where they wear-out the most is right at the rubber-tipped ends. Take a look at the ends from time to time. as already said, pets can put pin holes in the tubing, so be on the look-out for that. Most insurances will pay for hose replacements every so often. Medicaid may not, but most other ...

Re: Resmed EliteII vs Resmed Escape?

In my experience, the initial mask you receive is 100% your choice. You are never "forced" to use a particular mask. Tell whoever to setting you up with the equipment to show you a variety of masks. Then try them on with the pressure going.

Re: Do your DMEs let you return or exchange after a short trial?

My companies policy is that: 1. Within 30 days I can exchange a mask for a user who dislikes their first mask 2. Yes, both ResMed and Respironics have a form I fill out at the CPAP users home. The form asks What mask they don't want, what mask was the replacement, and what was the reason(s) the mask...

Re: Do your DMEs let you return or exchange after a short trial?

Both ResMed and Respironics have 30 day mask guarantee programs. Your CPAP provider knows this. If you've had your mask less than 30 days, ask your DME to send a Therapist to your house for a mask refit.

So I'm not supposed to use the word "compliant"......I did not know that. See, I've been here less than 1 day and I'm learning useful stuff.

Re: Welcome To the Forum, Follow Up Call

Well thanks for the words. I won't pretend to know everything or every situation, but I know my share. Its too bad that many of you have had bad experiences with their DME companies. Us home care RRT's really want to help you become compliant with your CPAP therapy. Some just more than others. I rea...

Re: Newbie question - sort of

If you can't get a new machine, you are at least eligible for new supplies (Mask, hose, filters) your DME will be happy to bill your insurance for those.

Re: New and confused.

"I wonder how willing they will be to give me a new machine since i've already used the one i've got?"

They will be very unwilling to get you the more expensive machine when the S8 Escape II works just fine. Why do you need the Elite and not the Escape? The pressure is the same.
