Stands for Bit Rate. Used to set the bit rate or speed of serial data transfer. Not something normally used with the S8.

"Optional" is the section where you list your equipment. The first selection is "Product Trial Information:" click on "Edit Information".

Did you receive the "ComfortLITE 2 NASAL MASK INSTRUCTIONS" with your mask? If so on the last page it lists Packages, Combo Packs, and Replacement parts with part numbers.

Sounds like you got Part Number 1030493 - Comfortlite2 w/Headgear, Size S,M,L Pillows Cushions.

Another advantage I have found with EPR is a reduction in mouth leaks. They are down to the point I no longer need to tape, and that is indeed NICE!

When using the Swift make sure it is selected in the "MASK" menu.

AHI is the events per hour, so you evidently slept a total of 2.6 hours and had 122 events (122/47.1 = about 2.6).

Re: The Problem With ResMed Bashing

MandoJohnny, I agree with everything you said, especially: The suggestion is this: If you want to bash a manufacturer, start a thread on it and bash away. Have at it! But if a fellow apnea suffer who happens to use that manufacturer's equipment starts a thread wanting help, at least consider the pos...

I would think "Blowby" is an acceptable term for leaks. In this case it simply means that something (air) is blowing by something that is supposed to stop it (the seal). It is common to hear blowby used to describe the condition where the rings (seals) of a piston in the engine of an automobile allo...

Re: Normal Leak Rate

How does one determine the normal leak rate for a given mask and pressure? I'm having a leak rate of around 40 and have no idea if this is normal or bad. -james Your FlexiFit (in fact all masks) should have come with a pamphlet that has a chart with "Bias Flow Information". This is the leak rate in...

It is not only the S8, Other brands of machines exhibit this also. My S8 Elite CPAP for example will not perform the "auto off" function with my F&P HC150 hooked up. There may well be other features that won't work, but I stoped at the "auto off" as this is important to me. Many time Autos will not ...

Re: Resmed S8 Autoset vs Elite

2. Also should one get a builtin humidifier or aseparate one? As Cindy said the humidifier is not attached permanently, however I would get the S8 with the "integrated" (HumidAire 3i) humidifier as opposed to a "stand alone" humidifier. Some functions may not work well (especially with the auto) wi...

I would suggest that you read this again: Here's a brief synopsis: 1. Some here believe and/or have directly experienced that REMstars may be prone to "runaway" pressure titrations up to the full 20 cmh20, for reasons as yet undetermined. I have NOT experienced this with my REMstar Auto w/C-flex. Tw...

Re: S8 and mask setting

She told me that with the S8 that is only used to identify the mask you are using when they print out a report. That may be the only reason they use it, but I think you will find it necessary as the S8 shows the leak rate in L/S after the bias leak rate of the selected mask has been subtracted. Bob

Here is a chart I made up of the masks that I could get the info for. I can't vouch for the correctness of all the data, but I believe it to be good. I use the Swift setting and at my pressure it works fine. My leak rate with mouth taped is about .06 L/S (as read on the S8 LCD) which I feel is OK. I...
